Really, theres no need to upgrade to quad cores.. its a waste of money IMO. Future games will use dual-core cpu's at most.

There is already a game out that fully uses quad-core cpu's and a quite a few slated for this and next year.BlackStalker
If you have a dual core now, it is not worth to get a quad core. New quad core will come soon enough with better performance and less power demanding and heat.

This is blasphemy.
FOR original poster: If I had the funds, I would upgrade to Quad-core, My boot and programs loading time decreased when I went from single to a Dual-core C.P.U. I would wager to guess that going from Dual to Quad would decrease loading times, so I feel that this is a benefit for me.
Quad cores of today are like the pentium D... not worth it.

Not true, pentium D's did not get 1.5-2x the performance compared to p4's in multi threaded apps, if you compare a dual core to a quad core in a quad supported app such as 3ds max, its about twice as fast.

Well if you do the same test... you would see that yes it does with pentium d 930 3ghz vs prescot530 3ghz..
I'm waiting for the Core 2 Extreme's to drop in price, or for the new Penryn. Only issue with the Penryn is the fact that I don't have a P35 motherboard :(firefly026
you dont need one.

The Penryn's will work on 680's, don't worry. All you need is a BIOS update.
