There seems to be nothing new, useful or worthwhile added to the new iPod range at all. I think apple are releasing new ones just for the sake of it in the hope they will sell (which they will). Just seems like a waste of time if you ask me.

The hardware storage is much more durable. The product itself is significantly smaller, thinner & lighter. Consistent software updates through iTunes. Not only being able to play music but watch movies/shows, pictures, podcast & play games. I'm know there's more but that's just from the top of my head.
This is a given really because there will be people who love certain electronics & those who hate it. Some hate it because of the popularity it recieves even though there could be other products which can be better.
nano video, more memory, ipod touch, alot of easier ways to do thing ie toggle shuffle with centre button
they are all smaller thinner and lighter and the nano is completely different design
also they have metal backs which is too cool

Smaller & lighter: only just. Being able to update firmware, play movies, pictures, games, etc is nothing new.
Let's see, the new Touch has a speaker, it's thinner and it has volume control buttons on the side which is great. The Nano looks completely different, the screen is wider and it has an accelerometer in it for coverflow, so there have been some changes, whether they are significant is up to the user.
A lot of technology is at a standstill right now. Companies need to cosmetically change their products more than they do functionally nowadays. Take a look at laptops, no one cares about how fast something is, because their all fast, you aren't going to win someone over because your model has a 2.16Ghz processor instead of 2.0Ghz, you win the public over with design and the illusion of "need". That's the society we live in and that's how you market.

I agree, besides a few weight and size reductions and space enlargement, I just think that they`ve pushed it a little. I mean how many variations of an ipod can you make? seriously I some people own up to three ipods.
