Plus, the PC holds to a higher standard, being a superior machine. 9.0 on a console doesn't necessarily equate to 9.0 on a PC.

this is the answer to your question. :)
We Rate Games According to the Current Standards of Their Platforms and Genres.
Every gaming platform is different, especially in terms of its technical features. However, we believe high-quality gaming experiences are possible on all the gaming platforms that we cover. So we review games against the standards of their respective platforms by implicitly comparing them to other games on that same platform and, to a lesser extent, to other games in that genre. As a result, our ratings of games on different platforms are not intended to be directly compared to one another. However, relative comparisons do apply, so a game that scores poorly is a poor game by any standards, while a game that scores extremely high is an outstanding game by any standards.

The real question about the review that is in my mind is why did the review come out the day after the game is released and we have been waiting for weeks on games that are better than assasins creed?Whiteblade999
Because the reviewer had already played the game when he played the console version. Playing the PC version, the only things he had to really consider were the controls, the visuals and the performance. He could arguably not even bother playing more than an hour or two to get a feel for the major differences between the console and PC versions.
I know it sucks that we had to wait a week and a half for a Sins review but we get the AC review almost right away (before it was actually available in UK!), but that is how multiplatform reviews work - especially when some versions are released sooner than others.
Topic. I saw the PS3 and 360 both get a 9/10, but the PC version is 8.5/10. Why's that? Shouldn't it get more, if not the same game rating? I mean, they included more missions!name294
mainly for the "incredibly high requirements." which is really stupid because they send this game thing for supreme commander and company of heroes. Assassin's creed should have gotten the same rating as the consoles considering it is virtually the same game.

Because it got more missions and looks better. It makes perfect sense to lower the score for those reasons alone.
Tanklover, for my (god) sakes, PLEASE de-Asian your profile.
Anyway. It`s because PC RIP 2009. They don`t want to rate games high, people might upgrade their PC.

This is actually the first "complaint" i got about this :? no one seems to be offended by something so stupid.
[QUOTE="TanKLoveR"][QUOTE="Ps2stony"]Well excuse me for not wanting to go watch some fr00bin' porn every goddamn time I see your posts. At least make your sig pic taller, we're getting nothing here, dude.Tanklover, for my (god) sakes, PLEASE de-Asian your profile.

Okay, if it won't then I don't see why you're not getting on it. "On" it? Eh? Eh??But seriously, if it won't get you banned or anything you should make that pic taller.
I think there are a few more bugs, maybe they didn't like it on kb/m as much, also possibly higher PC requirements.harrisi17There wasn't any more bugs .... it ws quite the same in fact i just finished the game last night & the only bugs i had in the game were minor colision bugs between characters .... hands thru other ppl's bodies ....but tthoe are minor things given to the most sophisticated animation & crowd system till date + keyboard + mouse rocks i've seen reviewers ..evan IGN sayd that you have more precise control over the character ! Oh yeah & the game deserved at least a 9.0 from gamespot in my oppinion !
Because I've been trying to play the first level for the last 45 minutes and the game just keeps shutting down.
Its a bit unfair that they put the system requirements down as a Negative. All the blockbuster games that come out for PC are going to have high system requirements. biggest_loser
I think high system requirements should never even be mentioned, but unreasonably high requirements are another matter entirely. I haven't even been able to install the game yet thanks to an installation error, so I dunno how it runs, but from what I've seen from other people, Crysis runs smoother than Assassin's Creed while also looking much better, so the AC specs may be a bit of an eyebrow raiser.

Whats the installation error say?
Reviews are opinions so unless the same person reviewed it then the reason that it scored lower could just be that the reviewer thought it was a 8.5.Ultra_Violent
It was the same guy. I am not 100% sure but I think it's GameSpot policy that they don't have two different people reviewing different versions of the same game. Aside from being a waste of resources, it keeps things consistent.

It can't copy data4.cab - I don't remember the exact error message, but just search data4.cab at the AC forums if you're interested, tons of people are having the same problem. From the research I've done, it seems like a dual layer DVD drive is needed, but I've never even heard of a DVD drive that can't read dual layer discs. The box specifically states that a dual layer DVD drive is needed. My DVD player from 2001 can read dual layer discs. So why can't my DVD drive I got a couple months ago?
Anyway, the DVD drive I currently have was the cheapest piece of crap I could find so I ordered a decent burner which specifically stated dual layer in the product info (though I imagine that was refering to write rather than read but honestly I have no idea what I do and don't know any more) which will be arriving tomorrow.
I've never bought a brand new game that I couldn't even install before.
