Why hasn't the modified version of Street Fighter IV, known as SUPER Street Fighter IV, come to PC? Are PC gamers such a small percentage of the people that bought the original version, that Capcom felt it wouldn't be a worthwhile version? Also, I have the original on PS3 and want to buy it on PC, but I'm waiting until the price for it on STEAM drops to $20.00. How long do you think it'll be until that happens?

Two million copies. It's not really that big of a number. But the game sold two million on all platforms. So it was pirated on PC as much as it sold on all platforms.

It was pirated on the 360 too, about 800 000 times. Really don't get it.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2009/dec/28/street-fighter-4-one-most-pirated-titles-pcxbox-360/

"The PC version of the original was actually a strong seller worldwide, said Ono. However, it was also "number one in piracy."

Capcom - Idiots.

What makes no sense is that they didnt release SSFIV, but they keep releasing other games (Lost planet 2, Dead rising 2, etc) I mean... im grateful that they have released those... but i dont know... its like "piracy" was just an excuse

Aren't the games developed on PC and then ported to console? If that's the case, then releasing it on PC would have been effortless.

It would be effortless. But then there are people like this around. "Spreading the Street Fighter brand around is a good thing, but when piracy is so high that certain areas would consider Super Street Fighter IV a "free" game, Ono says the protection of the intellectual property comes first." Maybe they will cancel out the 360 version and the PS3 version now that piracy is possible on it.

Fighting games aren't a big genre on PC. Fighting games have always been for me about competing with friends on the same couch - PC isn't the best platform for that.

PC is still pretty new to Capcom, and I think they are using at as a guinea pig right now. They have released games in genres that almost never get released on PC (SF4, DMC4, and RE5) and they have tried not releasing SSF4 on PC. I think they are trying to see if PC piracy affects console sales by setting a baseline with SF4 and then running the test with SSF4. They have also tried a low price point with Dead Rising 2, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them try a $60 price point with some game down the line. They are simply trying to figure out the best way to be profitable on the PC (or if they shouldn't be on PC at all) right now.

I really agree, PC is the last platform to play fighting games, but some people have a 360 controller, some people have their PC's hooked on their TV's and the game sold well, even Capcom said that. Something tells me they have no idea what they're doing, no wonder they have been losing so much money on western development.

They did say that the games using MT framework are developed on pc first, so at first i thought it was effortless too, but if thats the case... why do the pc versions of capcoms games (RE5, DMC4, LP2, SF4, etc) get released later? Also i think Dead rising 2 wasnt made with MT framework, but im not sure (Sorry for my english, i know its not very good)

It is an excuse.

They act as if piracy is new. Piracy has, and always will be there.Piracy is the scapegoat for poor sales figures and excuses to not release content.

Crytek, for example, blamed piracy for poor sale figures of Crysis, but didn't realize that upon release only a small fraction of gaming PCs could even run the game, and all the best stuff could be accessed for free in the demo. People either couldn't run it or got their jollies off with the demo. Add to that all the savvy people who knew to download it before they purchased a game they might not have been able to run.

I'm tired of publishers and devs using the same sorded excuses for their poor sales. Seems like Gabe Newell is the only guy in the industry that gets it.

The video game industry is filped whiners and people unwilling to change. The movie industry was being hit pretty hard until something called Netflix came around. Same thing for music and iTunes. Yes, there is still movie and muaic piracy but both imdustries have learned to adapt and bring new service to woo people. Both Netflix and iTunes are very profitable regardless of piracy. Perhaps Steam is the Netflix of gaming.

Generally PC is an afterthought to the publisher if they feel like it than they will devote the time resource into it, otherwise they will skimp on us altogether that is why the console fannies always give us " pc gaming is dying " quote all the time. We have exclusives from blizzard, tw series, mods, full-fleged tf2, and neat little games like minecraft to keep us busy.

I am gonna go ahead and say it: Every serious company that makes a pc game knows that it does not matter how much the game gets pirated but how much it sells and how to make people buy it. If you pick a game off a platform because of piracy when it was high, its like saying that you are either completly stupid or greedy. The game sells you freaking capcom psychos, why take it off pc? If you thing that EVERY single number of those pirated copies was gonna be a buy OR that it they will buy the console version just because there is no pc version, you are only fooling yourself. Street fighter was not a pc oriented game to begin with. Instead of beeing happy it did suprisingly well, they whine about it. Greedy bastards.

The market for it on PC just doesn't seem to be there. I've played it on both consoles, and I'd have to say it was better on the 360. Surprisingly in both terms of graphics and online community. The difference in frame rates isn't very noticeable. However, if you play it nearly as hardcore as I do, you will notice the split second differences that add up during a match. The game just feels buggy on the PS3. And the network seems to have tons of lag. Capcom has been stating piracy as an issue as to why it hasn't been released for the PC. If you can, get it on the 360. It's still decent on the PS3 if you're a PS3 owner. But it seems a PC version isn't going to be released anytime soon. I find it better suited for consoles anyway.

The truth is that SSF4 is a DLC at its best but was priced as a full expansion+ game. The fact also that Capcom continued to make PC games dispels the ideal that piracy as a viable excuse. If a developer feels so against a platform, they would not make games for said platform.. That was not the cause here. It was more a feeling that the game was a expansion priced DLC ($39.99 USD) and they felt it would not sell well on the PC platform. They couldn't really state that so had to throw out the trump card of "piracy".

I'm pretty sure that my CrossFireX 6850's and 8GB's of RAM blow the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 frame rates out of the water. And if you're playing with V-Sync on, then that'd be the primary cause of this so called 'input lag' - that or a shocking case of digital input lag.

Crytek also were basing it on how many people were *playing* the game versus how many actually paid for it from a variety of metrics - how many downloads of the game's patches were being kicked off, how many unique installations were being fired up to play, blah blah. they said they were alright with the sales, but that there were a ton more people playing the game consistently than paid for it - which is generally pretty much echoed by anyone else that bothers to talk about it openly.

I don't often agree with you, but on this I do. I don't know if SSFIV could sell well, but to stop from releasing future fighting games because of piracy when it still sell well is absurd. It's not like if it was costing them a lot's too to produce either. I will pass out from lot's of games I could buy, only because I don't have a console anymore. The older I get, the less I'm getting into the hype of marketing and greedy plots.

I never said it wouldn't. I would be more prone to agree with you on that. The fact of the matter is, it's a fighting game. And the genre is not usually common on the PC platform. And I suppose we'll never truly know beyond speculation, as a PC port doesn't seem to be in the works anytime soon. So for now, we're left to the limitations of this current generation's consoles.

Capcom has been doing it for years. This isn't the first game to be turned around into a supposed "whole new game" in a matter of six or so months. Just about every iteration of Street Fighter seems to have been followed up with multiple ports, "Super" editions, HD Remixes, etc. SSF4 actually plays as a slightly different game. Same concept. Balanced mechanics, resulting in increases in certain frames/hitbox registers, etc. Meaning the "broken characters" are more balanced and setups/links into other moves are more fluid. Stronger on-line community and match-making. Lobbies; the addition of both Team Battle and Endless Battle lobbies. Addition of a second Ultra combo for every character. Ten new characters. Four new stages. Bonus stages (car crusher and barrel smasher stages from the original games). New alternate costumes. Well worth the money. But hey, that's just my opinion.

It is really because Capcom are dumb. I don't pay for XBL Gold. I don't want it. Why should I pay for something that's free on my PC? So when I heard Super Street Fighter IV would be releasing I waited and waited for a freaking PC version. No dice. And really, piracy is a stupid excuse. Ono is a troll and Capcom make terrible business decisions as it stands. I want the game for my PC so I can play online for free. It isn't hard to hook my 360 pad to my PC. Nor would it kill Capcom to put out a PC version of the game. They keep putting out other games, but they give piracy as some stupid excuse as to why we can't have Super SF4. I don't buy that nonsense one bit. I'm so furious I could play an open-ended RPG. Yeah. I'll do that. I'll pay for The Witcher or something. Then videogame sites can write opinion pieces about how Japanese games don't sell. Then Capcom can give us another excuse as to why Super SF4 never arrived to the freaking PC.

Sorry about the rant. :P
