Why do I have a feeling that TOR is going to be ported to consoles?

I can't say that I've read too much about the game, but there is just something about it.

Maybe the cartoony appearance of the characters or the appearance of the graphics altogether. If you weren't told it was a MMO you would think it was just another star wars game for consoles.

Or maybe its the fact that I don't trust Bioware/EA to make a PC exclusive. It wouldn't be that hard for some kids to hook a usb kb/m up to their Ps3.

My brain is telling me there is no way, but I just have this feeling something is wrong.

The game will not make it to consoles as it is far too complex for a controller to handle. They have also confirmed that it is being developed for the PC alone.

I just found and article from July where he says they havent discussed bringing it to consoles yet because they are too busy focusing on making the game first and he calls PC the "lead" platform.

Also, you can hook a KB/M up to a PS3.

Sure you can hook up a mouse and keyboard. But it depends on game support and it usually doesnt feel right due to restricted frame rates on the consoles.

Also that link basically just said that they have never considered about it and are unaware as to if it is even possible. Doesnt sound like its going to consoles to me man.

Right. Also in thinking about it, considering their budget, I'm sure they are planning TOR to be running for a good 10 years. The current gen of consoles will be dead well before then.

The only thing that may have impact is the fact that Lucas arts has no rights now, full publisher and development rights except some minor input is in the hands of EA. EA invested lots of money in this game, the decision is their.

My only real concern is I was hoping that when this game comes out it will give PC gaming a nice shot in the arm and PC will get more love from developers because there will be more of us.

And if there is a console port they will just keep lovin the consoles..

I would. Playing along side console players in a MMORPG (or any game for that matter) is a deal-breaker for me but, then, I guess that makes me an elitist.

Look, I'm old and it's weird enough that I still play "video games" at all but at least the PC community still has a few straggling old farts clinging onto the last waning threads of their youth that I don't feel so creepy.

Consoles, on the other hand, appeal to a whole different demographic and it's one I have absolutely nothing in common with nor do I care to have anything in common with.

With that said, if it's ported andthey have separate servers for the different platforms, then I couldn't care less.

For starters it would ruin the game for a PC only gamer like me.

Consoles are the gaming equivalent of reality TV.

1. bad UI
2. worse potential size/graphics
3. young community of 13 olds screaming in my ear
4. simplified gameplay to accomodate controllers
5. and on and on.

Terrible idea.
