Why do people hate UT3 so much??

Granted its pretty much UT2k4 wih better graphics but, and there arent as many modes of play, but honestly i find it to be an awesome game. I am not quite exactly sure as to why some people hate it so much, Its has awesome gameplay, redmade maps, its pretty much has tons of content, and not to mention there are a ton of mods i play on that game. The only thing that seems to be missing is more players. UT3 is one o the better FPS ive played ths gen next to BC2 and COD4, what gives? Maybe For the next title Epic shoul;d focus on adding new weapons in. I can maybe understand the disapointment with everything being the same as the jump from UT2k3 to UT2k4 was big witht the addition of vehicles, but UT3 is a really good game to me at least. Why do people hate it so much Discuss.

Mostly Assault, bad server browser at launch, lack of content and diversity, which all got fixed in the end but it was too little too late. I personally liked it from the start, I got it at full price and I don't regret it, because you can't go wrong with UT games even if they'd suck :P the modding community makes them worth it, and there're already quite a few superb mods out there and some that look even better, in the works.

I didn't like the weapons or surfboards, the game just seemed like a step back from 2k4 gameplay-wise. That, and it's filled with bots and not actual players.

I like it; I bought first the PS3 version and playing it with k+m was great (for months was the only game I really enjoyed in PS3); then I bought also the black edition in PC.

But the main problem with he game are two: most of people currently don't care about old school arcade shooters and the campaign is bad. Maybe if the game had classes, unlockables, a global ranking... People would like it.

it is a very good game....and it changes the series....back to its roots.....ut'99......which i still own and play frequently.....but i think that is why hardly anyone plays ut3 is cause everyone is using ut'99 cause its essentially the same game

It's just one of those games that should have made it just fine but didn't, can't say I expected much from UT 3 since I saw the announcements and trailers and the game itself wasn't really anything remarkable, but it's sad to see ET:QW for example going down, and loosing more and more of those few players that it has, it's a phenomenal game, I'd even say better than BF 2, a lot better, its only problem after the pretty huge patches it had was the lack of new maps or specialized mod tools.DanielDust

Playing it felt like they used 90% of the budget on graphics, and 10% on everything else. It is inferior in every way, except graphics, to UT2004.

I doubt they were as bad as Gears of war 2's problems at launch, can you believe that There were Lag issues on LAN connection seriously, LAG on LANAlphaJC

Because there werent many game types, server browser was really slow, Single Player was Mulitplayer With Bots, and nothing was truly improved upon besides visuals. It is a good game no doubt, just not a classic like previous UT's. Hopefully UT4 improves on everything the UT franchise has become known for.
