What does being boring have to do with it? You said the game reminds you of WoW, which is beyond stupid.

Oh I see, you stopped reading after "Reminds me of WoW," so you missed the part where I said "where you keep doing boring raid after raid to reach a goal even though you don't like doing it (the goal in this case is the story)."[QUOTE="fatshodan"]There's nothing good about it, really. Amazing reasons, I'm convinced, thanks for contributing to the point of my thread. Cause what I did most of the time in the game was fight. Were you constantly setting off the alarms? When I played it (a tech character), it was about 80% exploration and 20% combat.
And the combat is fine, as long as you don't expect it to play like a typical FPS.

What? The game is linear, you're forced to fight to find ways into the next area.[QUOTE="fatshodan"]There's nothing good about it, really. I dunno why anyone likes it.fethelthYou said in your own review combat is pretty meh...isn't that what you do the whole game most of the time..?
I don't recall reviewing System Shock 2. Could you hook me up with a link to my review?

I've only set off 1 alarm the whole game and that was the one in the beginning. Yes, I'm as crazy as they comeBack on topic..
The kid is entitled to his opinion. Granted SS2 is not an easy game to get into. A very steep learning curve. Though it is silly to criticise the visuals given the game is nearly 10 years old now. They are still quite clean, bar the pyrotechnics of the explosions.
Who you calling kid, son? And read what I said, I said the game isn't scary to me cause of the graphics. Sorry, I can't control what's scary to me and what's not.Back on topic..

SS2 isn't that great of a game. The story and atmosphere are pretty good, but for me, it just didn't have that "spark" to make it a really good game

For all its RPG elements, its a game about key searching.
The level design also isn't as interesting as say Half-Life 1.

You/10. If WoW feels like work, than you need to be a console gamer.
These accusations are getting silly now.
Please stop them or I'll tell on you.

Either you didn't play SS2 or you have too modern of standards in games. SS2 is one of the best games ever made and if you can't realize that, it's your own fault.foxhound_fox
Thats a ridiculous exaggeration. I hope you are joking. People don't have to like the game.

WoW is forever the worst game ever in my mind. It completely destroyed my friends life. The only population I have ever witnessed to play that game is people with esd or extreme social deficiency for short excluding my friend because he used to do cool things like surf but now his hobbies are eating sleeping and playing WoW..
Please take note that I am in no way mocking any WoW users on this forum. I am not just biased because its WoW and allot of people hate it, I actually tried it and gave it a good 40 hours before I decided that this is the absolute most boring RPG I have EVER played. Plus the graphics never get better I feel like I am stuck 8 years in the past. EVEN Runescape had a graphical uplift that makes it close to WoW's graphics.
Personally I wish that all the kids who waste their time on that game realize that its not cool to put 100+ hours in a game per week and really blizzard must be laughing all the way to the bank right now because they can make a game that is boaring to play and look like garbage and still make a killing-profit. Just my 2 cents and enjoy my rant on WoW. I would say more but what I actually have to say about the game would be 1000 times worse then any thing you have ever heard about he game... Seriously I made a 39 year old cry because of what I said about WoW.

Okay I understand what you are getting at now. Sure some of it is well made, but that shouldn't mean that elements of it can't be criticised - like the level design!

Nonsense. HL's levels are extremely linear, how the hell is that more interesting than SS2's non-linear and more realistic level design? Even Bioshock has better level design than HL.

Moving in and around deadly machinery, falling through floor boards, crumbling cliff faces, tiny air vents, alien planets, the infamous train ride - HL 1 we are talking about, has some of the most varied and exciting level design of all time. Aided by great cinematic scripting as well.
SS2 has some really dull level design, like the cargo bay, which are pretty linear too.
late to the game and don't want spoil the nice conversations being going on. so I'll just say my piece.
to OP:
1. whether the game is scary I don't think has anything to do with this game's rating. some people find it scary, but it's good for discussing scary games, rather than whether SS2 is a good game.
2. I can completely understand how you feel and your confusion since frequently there come a game that I loathe while others loving (Oblivion comes to mind). SS2 is not your game, but to some it's their cup of tea. well, it just so happens that a more vocal group at GS likes it or even worships it.
3. personally I think it's the best FS view game I've played. but not my favorite (being the two NOLF games). for a FPS type of game, it has the richest player style config possiblities (the naosuit of Crysis can cry a river in this department), and tell a quite interesting story in FPS games. Pit it against CRPG greats such as Torment, BG2, and even Arcnaum, its story is quite weak, but for a FPS, it's great.
then, for the HL vs. SS2 thing. both are great FP shooters and being praised and loved by many gamers for years. saying one is better than the other is close to meaningless. but if you guys want to word-slugging out a winner, have fun.
