Like, 2 monitors when playing a game? Wouldn't the borders between the 2 monitors be extremely annoying?

No one is using "duel" monitor...

You want to use something that you dont even know how to spell it?...Thats kind of cool indeed.

I've attempted to duel my monitors on many occasions... they seem to never respond.

Now Dual, I've done that, sadly one monitor died a couple months ago, maybe it got tired of my duel requests? Anyway, I did that so I could watch tv (since one of my monitors is my tv) while using my computer, and watch/look stuff up while in a game

Sorry, I don't understand what I misspelled. If I did, well it wouldn't be the first time.

Its makes working on programs such as Maya, Max, Photoshop, UDK etc easier because you can have more space for toolbars and windows on the screen.

its spelled DUAL not duel. duel: is like a swordfight or in some western movies they say i challenge you to a duel. Dual: two things working in synergy, like dual gpus, dual monitors

Well thank you for clearing up my error.

I'm still undecided. Think it would be cool to have a ball game going while playing lotro. :D

I have a spare monitor but it won't support my current resolution which sucks.

Well I game on a 27" samsung monitor and then I got my old 19" on the side, I usually just have my mediaplayer there and sometimes it's handy dragging windows and folders to it.

Just buy one big 42" 1080p TV to use as a monitor and make your windows smaller.

I find it usefeull for productivity. I would often have my media stuff on one monitor and my browser or game running on the other one. It's far from necessary, but is a nice touch to have.

Good for streams.. watch the stream full-screen and do something else. Or movies. I have Netflix running a lot while playing games or doing other things.

Also have my Xbox and PS3 hooked up to one of my monitors, so I can still browse the interwebs for combos and such while I'm playing on console.

Having two monitors is pretty damn handy.

The most obvious reason it to gain more desktop space to work with by adding a second monitor which studies have shown to increase productivity more so then a super high resolution monitor 2560x1600+ as the border between the monitors acts as a natural divider to organize and separate different windows. If your a gamer your going to want one big monitor or triple monitors but for non gaming task dual monitors will be useful.

I use a 24" and a 17" monitor at work, at the same time. It is sometimes very helpful, it helps me multitask.

I use it to watch movies/shows while reading or working on something on the other screen. Or if I'm playing a game on the main screen and want to watch something at the same time. I like it.

Right now I have screen 2 connected to this laptop so that I can close my screen and still be able to chat etc while playing ps3/360 on the widescreen monitor. Whole bunch of screens on my desktop.

I'm working at home. I use my secondary monitor to keep an eye on the remote server I'm connected to and the other to do whatever I want. I switch to the main monitor when I have to actually work.

Also it's excellent for writing (or using any Office-styIe programs, really) and sometimes I leave video streams running on the secondary monitor. It's not much use for working on photos, movies and stuff like that because I can't calibrate both screens to have the same image values.

If I don't need my secondary monitor, I disable it from the Nvidia control panel as it strains the GPU (adds about 30 degrees to its temp, the card runs at higher frequencies). Also it's annoying that over time windows will tend to open on that monitor and I have to drag and reorganise them, plus I can't properly snap them on the main screen.

If you want to snap programs to your liking on different monitors, get Gamers Windows Relocator. Locks in programs to screens you want. I use to for playing games on my HDTV when game keeps wanting to playing on the primary monitor.

Having dual monitors is invaluable...I don't know what I would do if I only had one. It is so convenient when writing papers and also needing to reference web pages or old documents. I can easily have 4 windows open at normal size in total without having to resize and make stuff stupidly small or awkward. Also it's nice to have the secondary monitor as a place for my Skype window/chat, music player, and whatever else I feel like putting up.

Haha, this thread is inspiring me to go with dual monitors. My friend showed me his setup and went nuts about having 2 monitors, but I didn't get it. But now I do!

I use 2 monitors to:

a)Game on my 23" while watching a show on the 17"

b)Span my assignments across 2 monitors, easing the cluttered affect of having many windows open.

c)game with a game guide open

d)browse the internet while nothing is going on in-game
