Their previous plan was to make everyone have a PC for doing everyday IT things and X360 for games. Now that it didn't really turn out as well as they hoped they're trying to step back to Gates' positions, although noone really knows what they are really going to do.
The colossal failure of GFWL might have something to do with it...
also they want to sell Xbox's... :P
Nobody played/wanted = no money to be earned.
Money talks, and when your investment might not even bring enough $ to cover the porting cost, there's absolutely no reason to do so, just because a few people say they'll buy it and a few others, maybe.
Have you played halo CE? There are tons of servers with tons of people playing it. And it'snot even the most recent! And for buying x boxes, the same could be said about buying windows!Nobody played/wanted = no money to be earned.

Yes and even when it was released, it had nothing on the popular shooters on PC, now it's a joke to say such things, what you call "tons" means "dead", but of course, might be tons compared to what you might find on Xbox, the same thing cannot be said about buying Windows. You're going from games to OSs, no relevance whatsoever.Nobody played/wanted = no money to be earned.

I cant forgive them for closing down Ensemble. And turning AoE into that abomination...a facebok browser game...
Also xbox players more or less can be tricked into buying crap that us PC gamers know better not to. For example if you notice the adds for the call of duty map packs they always say "on xbox first" like its some big dealand the previews for it on the dashboard make it seems like it this this epic thing. I remember when the first dlc was coming out for mw2 I was watching the preview on the dashboards and when they were going over each map and trying to make it sound so epic and then people were all like "OMG MW2 MAP PACKS AND ITS ON 360 FIRST!!!!" Microsoft knows if they were to do that with PC gamers they would not make as much money.
[QUOTE="guynamedbilly"]PC gamers wouldn't pay for Live.-CheeseEater-Correct. Has it really come to this? Do they have to trick stupid xbox players into paying for things that should be free? Yes, it is a sad time indeed.
If Microsoft hated PC gamers, they wouldn't have made Direct-X, which would have meant that all games on the PC would be only 16-bit and have to run in DOS.:otopsemag55
We'd still have OpenGL.

Your taking Microsoft and saying that they did the very basics of what is needed. If Microsoft liked pc gamers, they wouldn't have **** up AoE, they would have all of for PC, and they would have made DirectX better so you didn't need to install it again every **** time you download a game. "Why not just make a version of directx that covers all the on this engine?" Microsoft- "Lets just **** with these people." I know there is alot more to it than that with programming and **** but I just really **** hate Microsoft and the fact that they trick people into paying for live and getting stuff "first". Like when the left 4 dead 2 dlc came out. All the people had to BUY it, the pc's got it for free! Damn you you rich bastards!!!!

Everyone who wants Windows already has it, that is a moot point.

I'm not sure if OpenGL allows both access to hardware and calls to Windows functions as well as Direct-X does. Not only that, but game devs code for Direct-X checks. For example, the RPG Drakensang does a version check for the DirectSound API.Please Log In to post.
