Im not complaining or anything im just wondering because when i go play counter strike or tf2 people are constantly talking then i go to play BFBC2 and every ten minutes you might see a "sorry" someone typed for failing at flying a helicopter xD maybe everyone uses vent on servers i join? idk lol what do people use mostly for voice in BC2? id like to use voice communication in that game other than typing medic and dying while typing.

Sadly, bad company 2 is very quiet for someone reason. If you join a clan, many people will use vent, skype, etc but normal matches things are very quiet. This could be because the ingame voice setup is all but broken. Don't know if they ever fixed it but most just use vent or something when they play with friends.

With BC2 the people I play with use Vent. The chat in that game sucks. L4D 1 and 2 have a lot of people chatting though.

Amazing community? The counterstrike community is argueably as bad or worse as the MW2 community, kids at the age of 12 screaming in their horrible quality microphones usually.

It's still not fixed. If you look in the ini file with the voice options there is a typo. Even when the typo is fixed voice chat is choppy or doesn't work. DICE is completely aware of the issue and have stated that they don't have plans to fix it. That was a couple of months back so hopefully they'll get around to it.

Hardly. If I even try to slightly troll, I get kicked out of most CS:S servers. I'm banned from way too many servers.

BC2 has broken voip that rarely works. So that is why no one uses it. Older Battlefield games had working voip so people communicated more.

CSS biggest group of servers of Underground and Noob galore still have good chatting with rarely little kids screaming into the mic. If so, they almost always keep a good amount of admins. Don't know about other servers as I usually just play on groups of servers with a good backorder clan/community. Its even less in CS:1.6 where yonug kids these days have no clue exist. Kinda a shame when you think about it but hey, community still going strong.

Most new games are like this nowadays, it's really quite unfortunate. Modern Warfare 2, Bad Company, and even Left 4 Dead is getting very anti-social now. I find it depressing. Hence my most recent Gamespot blog post raging about it. Honestly I am tempted to go back to older games like Counter Strike: Source just for the socialism. It will make gaming cafes thrive for the social aspect. I've started hanging out at one once a week or so because of the lack of socialism in video games right now so I can talk to people while playing.

but its weird because when i go to my friends house and i play on his xbox people are chatting all over BFBC2..not always about strategy mostly rambling but its still chat and it keeps me busy and laughing. I just wish it was the same for PC gaming nowadays...there needs to be a classic PC only FPS soon people seem to talk a lot more on PC only games...probably because developers are focused on one platform so have to to make sure everythings perfect. Consoles have much more users so thats their first priority

I noticed, too, a lot of more new games tend to have less social interaction. I think its because people are only concerned about getting their rank up, or the next unlock etc. and older traditional games like CS,CSS, TF, TF2, etc. tend to have lots of social interaction; which I tend to play more of because its just much more fun talking a lot during games than absolute silence.

Thats a good point. For a lot of people tracked stats are srs bsns, and being srs bsns they might be less prone to chatter and goofing off.

yea, any valve game/steam game has lots of VOIP action. I am in a community that revolves around Ventrilo, so I assume that's where most people are, in 3rd party VOIP

but unfortunately if a game came out without ranks and unlocks most people wouldnt buy nowadays because were getting used to level up type gaming :/ nobody cares about teamwork anymore, just being number 1...well most people anyways i like good teamwork :D

I'm not so sure about that. I think a lot of people would simply play a game if its good regardless of features and stat tracking (look at Minecraft for instance). If a game has mandatory stats, however, like BC2, you see a lot of people become competitive who otherwise might not have been. Take me for example. I dislike stat tracking. It is a form controlling the players actions. In BC2 I no longer use my favorite pistols because I've achieved a platinum medals with them and now I feel obligated to use the pistols I dislike otherwise I won't 'progress'. Often times I'll avoid sniping with the bolt action rifles because I don't want to see my accuracy with those rifles drop below 30% on the stat tracking websites. I no longer use the Carl Gustave because I reached platinum with it and don't want my stats to look noobish by have anymore than the necessary kills for the plat medal. haha. (it's vain, I know.) I realize I can go ahead and do whatever I want, but knowing that there might be what I considered blemishes on my permanent stats prevents me from doing as I please, and I don't want to have to create a second account or play on unranked servers. Having to monitor my KD:R sucks too. I know KD:R doesn't matter and that it's your team contributions that DO matter, but the fact that KD:R is there on the stats page I feel compleled to have at least above 1:1 ratio. Don't get me started on dogtags either. I was a dogtag whore. I made the knife my most used weapon simply for the "badass-ery" of having my knife be the weapon I've received the most kills with. I stopped using the m870 because It was approaching my knife's kill total. It's aggravating, and until I started typing this I didn't realize how much I limit myself when playing. Feels bad, man. In Counter-Strike and TF2 I don't have to worry about that other than for silly hats, etc.

So did I. All the time. Also, Bleacher6, the Xbox has a lot more people just talking as opposed to PC. But Xbox is still bad for people not talking too.

yeah i mean i like playing tf2 and CS a lot but after pretty much playing CS since release i wish a game would come out that has that teamwork/non-stress play. Im like you when it comes to KD ratio...if i play a game that shows that KD if i play a match and get 3:6 i get pissed off..with TF2 if i got that its easy for me to just say whatever or laugh about it because i cant see my KD and/or my KD doesnt matter.

Skype, Ventrillo, TeamSpeak 3, etc... In a game like BFBC2, one of these programs is so handy. In BC2, you are limited to talking to only your squad mates (3 people max). But if you have a bunch of buddies in a TS3, Vent, or Skype server, then all of you can communicate.

It's always nice to chat it up with some people, but then again that opens up the door to all those pesky brats who can't stand to lose anything, and cuss out lots of innocent players just trying to have fun. I dunno, TF2 and CSS are always very chatty.
