Here's your answer... and 10bucks that BF3 will ONLY be available on ORIGIN...
EA should keep doing this, and more publishers should continue to do the same. Why do I say this? Because one day, you all are going to forget how to buy games from physical stores. JustPlainLucasAre you kidding me lol? Compare the prices on Steam to retail. Portal 2 was like $45 for a preorder and like 80 or 90 (au) for retail. So many games like that.

Portal 2 was like $45 for a preorder and like 80 or 90 (au) for retail. So many games like that. In the US it's generally the opposite - I grabbed The Orange Box for like $25 launch week, L4D and L4D2 for ~$30, Shogun 2 for $36, and so on - generally preorders on Steam-activated games. Steam's pricing strength only kicks in on insane sales, otherwise retail's generally got better (and quicker) sale prices here.
Steam had gouged the crysis 2 price way up anyway for Aus, so will EA though, All this BS does is make me buy more retail, I'd rather buy digital but hey Ill go wherever is cheaper and easier, and thats retail off ebay at the moment
Yeah I actually forgot about Ebay. I might have a beau peep there shortly. You do know that you can buy the game from the store right...?EA should keep doing this, and more publishers should continue to do the same. Why do I say this? Because one day, you all are going to forget how to buy games from physical stores. JustPlainLucas
I do know how to buy games from the stores, the only reason why I don't is because they charge $120 for every new title coming out.
Blanket statement and misinformation FTL.
On other news, DICE signs with Valve. *Crowd cheers*Elann2008DICE has been a part of EA for much of the past decade; I don't see that going anywhere. But yeah, I don't know who over there is go good at making horrible decisions that seem calculated to piss people off. :\
[QUOTE="dangamit"]Wait. Does this mean BF3 on steam? WTF?FelipeInsideLike I said before, 10bucks that BF3 is only available on Origin....
EA has already said BF3 will be exclusive to origin, so that will be an easy 10 bucks

Damn it Kate_jones, shhhhhh... don't tell anyone that :)Maybe they are preparing for the DX11 patch so they moved it to Origin for a complete launch package with DX11 and the editor
No, no. More like EA is tired of retailers taking a piece of their pie. Brick & mortar will be off EA's list in another 5-10 years all well, fun fun.Maybe they are preparing for the DX11 patch so they moved it to Origin for a complete launch package with DX11 and the editor

Because the same reason Half-Life isn't available on Origin, the Blizzard Store or other DD platforms: they are rivals and want to have some exclusives.
Except that Valve built the first digital platform from the ground up and the people at EA are morons for ignoring a userbase with over 30 million users and a peak of 3 million per day.
Guys, EA is trying cut Valve out as a middle man as they continue developing their online strategy. They want to improve their operating margins. Why should they hand off $7 of every game they sell via Steam to Valve? In the long run, it might be worth it to buy more server space, hire more programmers, and develop a DD platform of their own.
So far, the user experience is extremely rudimentary, and EA has a long road to climb. In the short term, they should offer better discounts.
I have no doubt that all of EA's games will be removed from Steam eventually.

There is a lot to this post actually.
I guess I could give Origin a chance, a real one, for a bit.. I can always not play the game, and delete it from my HDD if it is really that bad.

JustPlainLucasPhysical stores are getting into digital, and it isn't helping. Gamestop bought Impulse, and right after the sale, they dumped all pre-orders of TW2, and removed the game from their listing.
Apparenlty EA are blaming a disagreement between Valve and Crytek over some terms or something :-
It's unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA.
Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam.
Crysis 2 continues to be available on several other download services including Origin.com.EA

JustPlainLucasI prefer to have a system like Steam or D2D for get those games instead of each publisher having a download management system for buy and play their games. Imagine how many accounts you would have.

Miroku32I already buy games from DD vendors other than Steam, even though I have a Steam account. Sometimes it pays to shop around, and I don't mind having multiple accounts.

Who cares. Crysis 2 is published by EA, is their choice if they want to remain outside Steam. Blaming EA for using Origin to focusing the DD of his games is like whinning due Nintendo games can't be played in 360 or PS3.
Let me be honest: I don't like too much Origin. Is still weak, it lacks the Xfire or Steam voip features, the screenshots or recording features and is clearly behind those ones and behind Battle.net 2.0/Blizzard Store. But is THEIR own platfom. This is PC, and PC isn't Steam. Here are some options and choices and us as the purchasers have the last word about those decissions. So let the time to run and let the people talk.
At the end Origin could be a succesful platform or an awful GFWL one, time will say.

Also several people on Steam's Battlefield Series forums have contacted EA support about BF3 coming to Steam and they recieved replies stating BF3 will be on Steam.
