So, when I first started playing Counter-Strike: Source I didn't think there was anything too amazing about it.. Why are there so many people who play this game so much? I like it an all but I can't see why its soo damn popular around the world.

It relies on teamwork...
Realism.
Balanced.
Solid gameplay
What more could you ask for in a game :)

Realism? relatively speaking..in comparison to the easy mode crap of today like MW2It's probably one of the most balanced FPS games you'll ever play. The game is all about pure skill you can't rely on things like lucky spawns, cheap weapons, camping etc

This, it's one of the most popular FPS'es for a good reason. You actually have to have SKILL to play it, no dual shotgun guy calling in a nuke ending your game, no spawn camping, you WORK to obtain some SKILL. It's more satisfying getting a 3 kill streak (Not like that's a lot, I've gotten much more) then getting a 25 death streak in MW2. Getting a 40-5 in cs:s is like, the equivalent of getting a 500-0 in Mw2unbalancedPOS
I got it recently in the same for a couple of quid and could just not see the appeal at all. It's incredibly hard to get in to.

Teamwork ? Realism ? Did we play the same game ?
The reasons I used to enjoy it were the level design, the fact that it actually requires skill, and for how competitive it can get.
The reason I stopped playing it was specifically due to the unfriendly community... although this was about 8 years ago so I dunno, maybe things have changed since then.
I have no interest in playing it anymore. It took me such a long time to start getting slightly good at it, I can't be bothered to sink that kind of time into it again.
It depends who you play with, the game doesn't force teamwork so it's all up to you how you want to play. If you play in a clan there is a lot of teamwork, go and take a look at the pro teams if you want proof.Teamwork ?

Very solid and addictive gameplay along with tons of mods to mess around with kept me immersed into the game. Those 452 hours (and counting) have been some very fun times.
