Hi, I just upgraded from a 8800gts 640mb to a radeon hd 4850 and my FPS in crysis dropped like 5 fps what gives? I'm getting like 17-25fps now on all high, shaders on very high. The anandtech review estimated crysis at my resolution and card to get 37fps.

my current system is

Vista home premium 64bit

q6600 stock

4gb 800mhz ram

radeon hd 4850

Also, when I go to look for newer drivers I can't find any for the 48xx series besides a hotfix..

drivers. You gotta make sure all your drivers are update . But ati has some bad drivers and i dont think crysis is well optimized for ati cards as well nvidia cards.

Possibly remnants of Nvidia drivers, try Driver Cleaner:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Driver-Cleaner.shtml

Edit: The best solution is to format.

Wow... complete opposite for me.
I can crank up the AA at 1680x1050 and still get the same FPS as my highly overclocked 8800GTS w/ AA.

where can I find the newest drivers? When I googled radeon 4850 drivers nothing really came up should I just use the 3870 drivers?

Also, what is the correct way to use driver cleaner?

I don't think it's a good idea to use drivers that were created for a completely different GPU.

Go to ati.com and use their driver selector.

Go here. http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html And select your driver with options in each window. Everybody with the new 48XX series cards is getting a frame drop in Crysis compared to the GeForce 8, 9, and 200 cards. This is currently the only major game showing this problem. It doesnt seem to be a driver problem as much as the game seems to favor GeForce chips more than the Radeon cards.

Did you clean up the old nVidia drivers? The two don't work well together.
