They'll probably use those 2 weeks to polish the PC version a bit more but since this is Rockstar i doubt the game will be bug and glitch free once we PC gamers get it.
It'll most likely suffer from poor optimizing and crash problems but I'll still get it, i just replayed the previous two titles and i'm excited for the 3rd game. A bunch of errors and occasionaly low fps won't keep me away from a game that'll most likely be a lot of fun.
So that more people will buy the console versions.
Or as they'll put it: "we're implimenting various improvements exclusively for PC players"

This, its a common trait that publishers use to maximise sales on consoles. Some kids cant wait and would rather buy the inferior and more expensive console version as not to feel left out. While publishers will say its because they are adding new DX11 optimisations or extra features, or that it takes longer to develop the PC version even though they developed the game using a PC for the consoles.
I played the PC version at the PAX East earlier last month. It seemed solid to me (no mouse lag, no mouse smoothing, everything worked as it should).
As mentioned, the real reason is that they don't want to hamper console sales. Specially in large secitons of Europe where if the game is available on PC, that's where most people will buy it.
However, I'm pretty sure they'll spend that extra time giving the Pc version some love, so I'm cool with it.
It's not like I won't have a ton of other games to play.
Hehe.. reminds me of the Borderlands 2 exclusive PC features marketing crap Gearbox pulled on us awhile ago...So that more people will buy the console versions.

Lol, I remember that list. I remember thinking, "Most of this is standard for PC games..."
OT: I never played MP1 or 2, but I will say 3 looks like a ton of fun; however, with it being released after Diablo 3, I'm not sure when I'd have time to play it. :(
Could be piracy, could be because QA takes longer, could be for UI changes. nutcrackr
Thats just stupid. Pirates are going to pirate regardless of whether mp3 is released at the same time for consoles and pc or on a two week delay for the pc. Piracy won't have much of an impact on sales. Unless the game sucks. If its delayed is because the game is going to bomb then idk.

Good to hear. I read some other PC previews and they were all positive.
I get why people are sceptical (GTA IV and LA Noire ports were bad) but this looks like it will be a great port for once.

They probably think that many pirates will just buy the game on the consoles rather than wait the 2 weeks for the torrent.2 weeks is nothing, Look at something like Prototype 2. While a bad game more than likely, it is launching a LONG time after consoles got it. Same with Arkham City
Come on people do you seriously believe they are optimizing the PC version right now?...they just want to maximize console sells... i mean just look at Batman Arkham City, they said they were optimizing physx for PC and when the game released physx was broken... most companies do this all the time and just lie to us making it sound good "Implemeting fixes and optimization for PC users", yeah right...

The PC is harder to develop for. The extra time goes into the tweaks and changes needed to make PC ports work.
well those two games got handed off to lesser teams for a pc port. The same thing they did for the mess of a game bully was on 360. This is different, near same day release.TerrorRizzing
Forgot about Bully, it worked fine for me but I heard I was in the minority.
I'm glad we only have to wait for 2 weeks (2 and a half weeks for Europeans) instead of a year in GTA IV's case and almost a year for LA Noire or indeed never getting it on PC as was the case with RDR.
I hope they do the same for GTA V.

I remember a few years ago when they were releasing the DLC for GTA 4 on the PC and PS3. Just before launch it was delayed for both platforms by 2 weeks. Apparently Sony Europe threw a hissy fit about some content in the DLC and it would take 2 weeks to solve. There was absolutely NO reason for them to delay the PC version and at the time Rockstar said "it wouldn't be fair to PS3 users to release the PC version first". At the time I posed the question to Rockstar as to whether they would be just as "fair" to PC gamers ?
Turns out I didn't have to wait too long for my answer. Here they are releasing the console version two weeks before the PC version, I wonder what happened to all of Rockstars notions of "fairness" ? Still a bit hard for me to get annoyed by this, I haven't touched anything from Rockstar since GTA 4 and I won't be touching Max Payne 3 either.
Stop being so entitled and wanting a good port and and an installation smaller than 50gb!! As long as you get the game you should be happy, even if it doesn't run at all! My gosh, gamers these days, so entitled!

exactly. this is great news. usually its 1-6 months. and on occasion, an entire year. or in a few other cases, multiple years.only 2 weeks, consider yourself lucky.
aia89
Why would higher console sales be better for them? If anything a pc sale is better as there is usually a higher profit margin. tobes1993Um nope. PC gamers expect lower prices and more features = higher dev costs
[QUOTE="aia89"]exactly. this is great news. usually its 1-6 months. and on occasion, an entire year. or in a few other cases, multiple years. This this. The 2 week delay for Max Payne 3 is "nothing." I've been waiting for MP3 for years. Now that other game, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City is horrible. Played it at WonderCon. Trash, and it doesn't deserve to have the Resident Evil brand on it at all. Avoid at all costs, or suffer the wrath of crappy game.only 2 weeks, consider yourself lucky.
yellosnolvr
who cares guys. d3 will come out before. seriously who here would play mp3 in combination with d3 at release..supertrooper23me!!! I have no intentions what so ever to play D3
So they can put the seven map pack files with the full game files and then charge us $30 to unlock them. ;)
Could be piracy, could be because QA takes longer, could be for UI changes. nutcrackrDelaying the game won't change piracy rates at all, how did you come up with that? Using that same logic developers would never release games they finished developing so that they couldn't be pirated. It's absurd. Even if you went with the idea that delaying the PC version will encourage pirates to buy the game on console it still wouldn't make any sense seeing as how pirates wouldn't pay for any version (hence why they're pirates). It's got nothing to do with development time either. By this point the game is finished and done. Games go gold about a month before release, and there's not much you can do in two weeks anyway. As others have said, the real reason is most likely is to increase console sales. That or the PC version is particularly bad and Rockstar is using the delay as damage control so that the console versions can maximize sales before the negative reviews of the PC version start pouring in.
Well its better then 6 months like most Rockstar titles. Likely its because the PC version has more things going for it, they need to optimize it better, get all the graphical extras like DX11 working right, and make sure its polished so it can be up and running on launch day.
I'm disappointed by this as well, but the enhancements are well worth the wait, and I'd rather they take their time then give us a game that needs a bunch of patches for weeks after just so it can work on a specific card or launch properly or whatever.

Thats just not true.
#The bit about it being harder to develop? Or the effort into the port?
Because I will agree on the effort into the port in some cases. But having a PC copy of a game that works on any of the millions of combinations of PC hardware is more difficult than developing for a console.
