why is my computer beeping?

just tried to put a extra gig ramm into my system and when i started her up i got an annoying beeping sound, now the computer turns on and just beeps at me and am not getting any input from the monitor either even after double checking all the connects.

does anyone have any ideas what ive done to her and how to sort it out?

1. The RAM is not seated properly 2. The RAM is incompatible. I got the same symptoms when I tried to put new ram in, turns out it was only slightly unseated, pushed it in and it worked.

Perhaps you bumped something while you were putting it in (or you were very unlucky and as well as having a problem with the ram, you bumped something while you were taking it out). Try reseating the other stick of ram, as well as any other cards near the ram. Also -- what are the beeps like? There's generally a pattern to them, which says what the motherboard thinks is wrong.

Yea when a computer beeps thats its way of telling you there is a problem. It's kinda like morse code depending on how many beeps there are and the length of them. What the beeps mean exactly though depends on what kinda BIOS you have.
