It is just so boring the maps feel so static and resource gathering is the most tedious and boring thing in the world. My Favourite RTS is CoH and it fixed that problem with capture points which makes the gameplay much more fun as you have to fight for resources. It means you can start the game a different way each time and you can come back late in a match just by ninja capping points. In Starcraft 2 you always start the same boring way gathering those resources and matches are normally decided within the first 5 mins based on the economy of it.
In CoH as well you have so much destruction and the map is completly flattened by the end of the match. I love how a standard Infantry soldier cannot kill a tank by shooting at it too, yet in Starcraft 2 if you get enough of them they can, it's so dumb and you should need proper AV to kill one. I love how CoH has cover and how your troops have their own A.I and will take cover and find targets by themselves and yet in Starcraft 2 there is none of that.
I just don't understand how it could have become so popular apart from having the Blizzard name to it and a much better UI for finding matches than CoH. Even the Single Player wasn't very interesting, the story was so cheesy and worse than the original. The game didn't even play any different from the original and to me that just makes the Single Player boring, it felt like I played it already. The whole "adventure game" bit inbetween each mission wasn't even good like people said too. There was no adventure part to it and you just clicked on things on the screen that were highlighted. You just listened to characters that were dull and I had no care for because it all felt poorly written and cheesy. Valve made the best characters ever with Portal 2 IMO, it was so amazingly written and funny, yet Blizzard just make cliche characters all the time.
I just don't get it, to me it is riding the success of the first one and people jumped on the band wagon.
