That's exactly what I'm telling you. Were and of those games to have advertising, I would not buy them. (Not that I'd ever buy MGS4 or God of War in any case.) As for "getting over myself", well, I do apologize for having the temerity to hold an opinion that differs from yours. My god, what effrontery!
Look, if you aren't bothered by paying full price for a game that sticks products in your face, then so be it. I will not do so. In the specific case of GRAW2, I find the argument that ads fit the game environment because they're on billboards to be absurd. The game world takes place in 2014. Why Discovery Channel would be advertising programming for the week of Aug 1-7, 2007 in 2014 is anyone's guess.
More importantly, the company that supplies ingame advertising track how long each player looks at each ad, and from what angle. This means two things:
One, your actions and habits are being spied upon. I find that rather sinister and have no wish to be a guinea pig for some marketing/demographics weasels who want to find a better way to market their garbage to me.
Two, they are eating up bandwidth to both place ads and to track how I look at them. That adversely affects my ping rate and contributes to lowering my ability to play well as well as increasing my frustration.
