how come not many people play age of conan? This game looks IMPRESSIVE. Yet the gametrailers review said that it needs some refinements :|
So what are the pros and cons of Age of Conan? I know one pro is that each class is really well balanced

As said above. I played at Launch for 3 months and Funcom made no attempt at all to make any of the fanbase happy and most of us Quit because there was nothing to do. Quests were not complete. PvP was Broken, and Most High End Zones for Raiding were completly broken.
Not paying 14.95 a month to WAIT for content. They had their chance and screwed up. just like they did in Anarchy Online. That company has no idea about how to launch a game.
I can't think of any real serious cons. The game is very immersive, has a great combat system, looks awesome... the biggest con I'd say is the kick in the nuts you get after Tortage, where there's only a very small bit of voice acting and not as much "content". But there's still a lot of stuff and they've been adding a lot more recently. Aside from a few, most servers were pretty barren, but they did some serious server cleanup recently.
At the very least, it's worth checking out. I recommend you finish Tortage during your trial period to get a feel for the rest of the game.
I wouldn't say its "dead". I got a month and its really fun I am having a great time on it and I see quiet a few players not like a huge lot but its not dead. If you think AOC is dead try playing some actual dead mmo's. Personally I wish the launch had gone better as it truly is a great game.blade55555Dead is a far stretch but it doesnt have nearly the amount of players it had at launch.

There's the initial swell of customers looking for something new, and then they invariably drop it and go back to their old habits. The same thing happened with Warhammer. Supposedly AoC's subscriber base is steadily increasing.
Well, I'll say in advance that my highest character is a level 52 Conqueror even though I played for a good 8-12 months (I tend to be pretty casual with my MMOs).
My person opinion: Age of Conan is really quite fun. I enjoy the way melee combat was done, and it's just great fun for me. There's a trial out there now (came out not too long ago, actually), so I'd certainly recommend anyone out there interested in MMOs to try this out.
Another thing is that patch 1.05 should be releasing soon, and that patch is going to be changing a lot of how itemization and stats work. So that should be interesting. I'm planning on resubscribing once that happens so I can give it a try. I wish I had more time to play or I'd have a subscription going on right now...
I forgot all about this game. No way would it have run on my previous computer.
I'm kind of impressed by some of the DX10 screenshots I've just seen. How did the DX10 version pan-out? I might have to check into this game. My local store is selling it for $30. Not too bad. Maybe now is the time to bite.

I played the closed Beta, and it was absolutely terrible. I told them several times they need to finish the quests, PVP, etc etc etc. But do they listen to their beta testers. Apparently not..ferrari2001
They did, most dev studios do listen to their customers. The amount of stuffs that they put in since launch is a solid testament to that. The game engine is smooth as butter now, its a lot more smoother than WAR, which seems to degenerate every other patch. And AoC looks 10x better than WAR can ever be, imagine that.
But its the publishers that aren't listening and they are the ones that call the shots.
Its a little sad, the situation that faces most talented dev studios.
[QUOTE="Charles_Dickens"]Its $10 on steam on sale, so you can look into that. Thanks for the heads-up, guy. I bought it. $10 is a great deal for any game - and it sounds like Conan, after the four or five patches that have been applied, is probably worth at least ten dollars. Downloading now. HUGE frickin' download. I started last night at midnight and I'm STILL downloading.I forgot all about this game. No way would it have run on my previous computer.

Why not Age of Conan...Well the launch of the game leaves a great impression on people. Age of Conan was my first mmo and I was really looking forward to endless adventures in Conans world. Too bad Tortage was the only complete part of the game. 25h after I began with my first character I left Tortage and was greeted by an incomplete barren wasteland. The whole first part of the game is voiced but once you leave Tortage its all quiet boring text. This wouldnt be a big deal if the game had no voiceovers at all, but the first area reaches a certain level of quality unmatched by the rest of the game. Also so many things were missing from the game that were promised by the developers that once again I had to face the idea that I paid for a game that should have stayed in development for a few more months. Its a shame really since the graphics were great, so where the environments, the tortage quest line was interesting, the enemies varied and ofcourse the great melee system.
25 hours is more than enough for me. I've got so many games on my shelf right now - it's an embarrassment of riches. Then again, I only paid ten dollars for the game. But the way you've described the first 25 hours actually sounds pretty good to me. I'm looking forward to starting tomorrow, when this frickin' monster download finally finishes. Why not Age of Conan...Well the launch of the game leaves a great impression on people. The main quest lines are still voiced outside of tortage, its only the other side quests that aren't voiced. Besides, you said it like its really a bad thing. Most other MMO don't even have voiced dialogues, if at all.Why not Age of Conan...Well the launch of the game leaves a great impression on people.
