To be fair, programming an MMO in Java is a massive acomplishment, too bad they could not have better graphics and gameplay to match the acomplishment :(.

QFT I hate that game now its so badd, I don't play mmo I play games that take skil now X-D. Runescape I was lvl 70 but there was nothing to do left and it was really big pain. So like I just quit palyed 516 hours of GW, But like I play fps X-D t3h pwnage i am
RuneScape is good if you consider that they were able to program an MMO that millions of people play, all using Java. But it's just a huge grindfest, like every other MMO.
ITs really not the game itself that suck so terribly, but its the community. I really don't want to be playing an MMO with whiny 13 year olds thinking they're cool or begging for money left and right... I don't think there's anyone over the age of puberty still playing that game...

Runescape: -Graphics are complete trash. Hey, I know it's a Java game but it still BLOWS -Oh hey look a monster lets fight it! *bleep, blop, bleep, blop, dead* wow that was fun! Sure beats the skill required in Guild Wars and WoW! (jk about wow :p but WoW still owns this puke) -Music......well the best part about the music is that you can turn it off to stop your ears from bleeding -Community, full of morons. Wherever you go there are people spamming and saying crap like "ur g@y, can i have gold plz plz plz"
Its not bad for a free game... the wild is fun for awhile. I wished more games had a competitive system similiar to runescape. People talk so much trash in games today. If they wernt willing to risk it all, you'd be able to tell.

Why do people keep making these threads? Just don't play the game. Is it that hard? Reading such posts just makes me think that probably they just played the game for a long time until they got frustrated and decided to vent it somewhere, which, somehow, means this forum. Just play something else.
I played RuneScape for 3 years (albiet very casually) on members, although the graphics were terrible (still quite good for java), the gameplay was overly simplistic and there were major balance issues, I loved the game and found it very addicting and fun. However with the recent overkill anti real world trading procedures I have temporarily (?) cut my ties with it and canceled my members subscription. I still log in for holiday events however, and stand ready to return if the anti real life trading procedures are relaxed, Jagex releases some super cool update or I forgive Jagex for thier recent blunder.
Still I will say this: Don't judge RuneScape by its graphics and 5 minutes of game experience
