no really , why , ive tried it , its a regular walk and fight a target a game :SgubrushadowRegular walk and fight a target game? That's your argument? Really? Why not just call Call of Duty 4 a regular aim and shoot game? Or Starcraft a regular move units and attack game? And what would a non-regular walk and fight a target game be like?
Nah, it has nothing to do with the enthralling story or the seamless combat mechanics. No it isn't have to do with the interesting level design, the unique enemies, or the growth of your characters. No it has nothing to do with any of that. Guess you are right and I must delete the game from my hard drive and never play it again. Cdscottie
Eh, the story was hardly 'enthralling' - it was just a pretty standard 'evil forces are invading plot', without any interesting villains or plot-twists, and which failed to live up to Bioware's standard (imo).
The level design was also one of the worst parts of Dragon Age. There was no creativity in the dungeons - even the few that did differed from the boring 'enter room, kill 50 guys, enter next room' formula (the Fade and...um...?) went on for much too long. The Fade, for example, was great until you get the golem form, and then the next hour-ish of it was too easy and thus dead boring. The bosses were alright, but that just made the final boss all that more disappointing.
Anyway, other than the complete lack of creativity in the story and dungeons, the game was pretty good. Better than Bioware's last few games, but I wouldn't call it worthy of its 9.5.
*edit* and yes, I took this thread -far- too seriously. :P
[QUOTE="DanielDust"]@DanielDust i didnt say i didnt like it , i aSKED WHY DID YOU LIKED IT Oh, so you gave the game a 10, but then say it's a "regular walk and fight a target game"? You don't give a 10 to "regular" games. A 10 score means it's more than amazing, there's no higher score to give so it basically means a perfect or near-perfect game. A 10/10 is for an excellent game irrespective of the genre. Besides, you didn't just ask us why we liked it, you asked us why the heck we liked a regular walk and fight target game. You definitely wouldn't call it that if you liked it. Obvious troll.Obvious troll is obvious >_>.

why dont people answer the question instead of asking stupid pethetic kiddo question !gubrushadowWell when poor spelling and grammar come into the picture, it sounds as if A) You are trying to troll the forums and get a rise out of people or B) You disliked the game and want to know why they liked it. I know when I read it first it came off as if you were just trying to get a rise out of people.
why dont people answer the question instead of asking stupid pethetic kiddo question !gubrushadowBecause we have reviews for this sort of question?
Because of the werewolves and the dragons of course.Jd1680a@ Jd1680a : finally , someone with a true answer
I think this is the kind of guy that thinks The Godfather is a POS movie because there's "not enuff 'splosionz". Even though he did rate it 10/10. Go figure. He needs to get his head checked.
neither do i understand till now ,how a game like dragon age origins got 9.5.
its just like oblivion and fable and even less than that.
totally confusion and illusion with rpg of dao.

...I....I...I don't know where to even begin..... Either way, the game is great by it's own merits. Not everyone will enjoy it but is that really a bad thing?its just like oblivion and fable and even less than that.totally confusion and illusion with rpg of dao.

So, a game that's actually a true RPG is just like two awful games that aren't even close to being RPGs. Sorry, but Fable and Oblivion are two of the biggest pieces of dooky I have ever had the misfortune of playing and neither of them are RPGs. I'm not saying DA:O is great (I think it's good -- not great) but comparing it to those two games is completely laughable and absurd.

1. Awesome story
2. Deep, complex party members that influence how you play the game and, eventually, the outcome
3. Cool lore, environments, and NPCs that exist in an entirely new, fresh game world (Ferelden)
4. Familiar, old-schoolish gameplay updated to be more exciting and streamlined.
5. Party AI is vastly improved
6. Awesome melee combos
7. Amazing spells
8. Like 6 ways to start the game
9. A good value, considering A.) each playthrough takes about 25 hours minimum, and B.) there will be a lot of mods and player-made content
10. Dwarves
11. Elves
12. Dragons
13. Religious nuts
14. Lack of a good/evil alignment system; everything is grey, there is no black and white
why dont people answer the question instead of asking stupid pethetic kiddo question !gubrushadowMaybe you should have made a better topic. Why give a nice answer when you don't give a nice question? Quality RPGs are few and far between. Dragon Age just happens to be one, even if the setting and story are generic.
no really , why , ive tried it , its a regular walk and fight a target a game :SgubrushadowEhhhh....cause it's BioWare. They brought us the best RPGs of all time....
Parts are tideous but if you sit down and play the game, theres no doubt that you will get into the story. That being said if you make your guy look like douche you might not enjoy it as much.
To bring out the True strategy elements of this game, u need to be playing this game on Nightmare.
Or else ull beat every enemy without any problems and it will just seem like an auto-combat game.
However when playing on nightmare, u will face tough battles and will really rely on good strategy, where to throw bombs, where to set-up traps and make ambushes etc.
also if u dont like the game, try playing it as a mage or rogue, all clas$es are different in this game, the rogue owns alot when u get dual wield daggers and its just so much fun stabbing creatures in the back and watch ur damage grow as ur character goes lvls up plus going invisible and setup traps before u jump into the battle with ur entire party
Its hard to answer a question that requires knowing your tendancies. Frankly I dont care what you like but for future reference there is a reviews section where you can sift and find people, similar to yourself, that write reviews.
That said, let me just say that DOA sucks for all the reasons you listed. The best RPGs of all time are Diablo 2 and WoW.
...
...
Give me a second while I try not to choke and fall out of my chair from the hysterical laughing. I guess some people just dont like classic RPG's and prefer action games. I have a feeling you are one of those people. Good for you, DOA is not for you but to us RPG fans, DOA is probably the best RPG release since Kotor. Not as good but the rest have been so bad that DOA wins by default.
