The gaming industry is whining and crying about piracy and loss of revenue and we have to gobble up all of this all the time but by the same token they will ignore most of the fans recommendation and carry on with releasing trash or not improving their games juts for the sake of milking money.

How many time did fans demand a port from console to pc and vice versa and that never happenned...

How many times did fans and reviewers tells companies what was wrong in their games, still they continue on with the same trash in a sequel.

How many times did players asked for no change in gameplay style in a game but devs completely re-wrote a game's mechanic that work for fans and it alienated them.

I absolutely do not get it when companies still continue to make game and when people want patches they do not respond and abandon their games which can make or break a new franchise....

I know that you cannot please everyone, everywhere but when people tell you that something in the game does not work or people tell you that they dont want it in the game beffore release then why put it in?

in this day and age of communication it feels like devs are always trying a crap shoot in hope of getting the lucky seven on the table all the time and they miss 90% of the time and they know by statistics that the odds are against them....

Thats because the vocal minority you see and hear isin't everybody. Theres alot more to making a game then listening to a few fans on forums and gaming review websites.

most game companies just arent that nice anymore. but there are still a handful of developers/publishers that are community driven and like to hear suggestions. valve, being an example.

Valve is far from it these days... maybe at one point, not anymore.

BIS making ArmA 2 is a very community oriented dev. They actually post on their forums and listen to people.

There are times when they SHOULD and SHOULDN'T listen to fans. Some games tanked because they listened to their fans too much. Keep in mind, most of these fans are not game developers and don't have the faintest idea on how to make a "likeable" video game. In that sense, it's not always appropriate nor smart to listen to the fans. In the contrary, some devs do listen to fans and they will take into consideration certain feedbacks if deemed wise.

Treyarch, which belongs to the most hated company in the PC circle, Activision, listens to their fans, the dog killstreak was a community suggestion, just as that gun game mode on Black Ops.

Ubisoft listened to their fans when developing Assassin's Creed 2. Every single complaint was dealt with, and the devs even said this. But yeah, most don't listen to anyone, I suppose they're trying to justify their own position by not listening to gamers.

Because most vocal fans are usually in the minority and thus, the majority don't speak up so when they buy games, they don't care if the changes suit them or not, the publishers/developers are still raking in the profits regardless of how much they change the games in the sequels. Occasionally, developers will listen to fan and media feedback in an effort to create a better sequel. Sometimes that doesn't always work though.

LOL, why should they listen? they continue to release junk and people continue to buy it anyway. Remember I said this when you go out to purchase Call of Duty 73 because the graphics are pretty.

It's not the developer's faults. It's the publishers. Patches cost money. The developers that can afford to patch through as a courtesy can be counted on 1 hand. Sometimes a developer will love their game enough to patch for free, like Paradox Interactive. But Paradox Interactive publishes their own games so they can afford to do that. So can EA. I kind of wish that developers would band together and make their own publishing conglomerate. We don't need these corporate epenis flag posters that call themselves publishers. We need publishers that love gaming as much as developers do but most publishers only care about the almighty buck. I used to think EA was evil for buying out all of those other companies. Now I kind of wish they would.

Here's the thing about "pricey patches" is that the companies that usually barely patch games post release can afford to patch, but they wish to get more money so they abandon the game or stick overpriced DLC in it...

Why the **** did "DLC" even make it to PC, stupid contards and fanboys... that's why. BURN THEM ALL!

Yes I hate how DLCs cost so much money. Hate it when the publishers/devs say "Yes we're planning to release a lot of DLCs for gamers to enjoy and download blah blah".

Never understood all the hate for Treyarch (IW vs Treyarch days..). To me, they seem like the more humble version of the Call of Duty devs. Black Ops day one for me and I'm not even a fan of Call of Duty. Anyways, I agree with this comment.

I agree with your first sentence. :P But people haven't been buying Call of Duty for the pretty graphics. If anything, the game runs at 600p, but it still looks great. They buy it for the multiplayer obviously. I know a few people that still haven't beaten the single player campaign but they have hit prestige more than once. Weird but true.

Maybe if you ignore the fact that DLC comes with internet, and has nothing to do with consoles.

Oh no wait, your right, every problem with pc gaming is because of consoles, just like every problem with society is caused by rap music.

And FYI, DLC is nothing but min expansions, which can actually exist because of, you guessed it, widespread internet access.

I don't know about Valve from the 90s, but Valve today still listen to the community. TF2 has changed alot, much more balanced now compared to when it was released. The trading system was suggested by the community. Lots of people buy things from the Mann.Co Shop (I've seen so many mann.co hats lately), so people must've liked it. And many balancing changes were suggested by the community (except... Pyro nerfs?)

Alien Swarm is another example. Few days after it was released, people were spamming the forum "Tesla gun is so OP, OP OP OP x 100". They actually nerfed it.

Valve still fixes bug from their games like L4D series, TF2, CSS. Whereas Bethesda just leave Oblivion there (but thanks to the mod community, TES4 is fine now).

There are common lies like:"We listen to our fans",wen the truth is that the only ones with influence are publisher`s and shareholders. The trends are hand-helds,and i Phone, because it`s cheaper.

Gamers do not know what they want, what you see on forums is a minority, most people dont care about patches are anything more in depth than putting a game in and seeing it play and once more gamers dont know poop about making games, patching games, localizing games, balancing games and so on.
