1st up, AMD comp (much cheaper):

Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe

AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black edition with OCZ Vanquisher and mx-2 thermal paste, to OC to 3 GHz, or higher if possible

Corsair PC6400 4Gb XMS2 DHX Twinx DDR2 (2x2Gb)

MSI 8800 GTS 512 (173$ :D)

Antec 900 case

Corsair VX-550 PSU

500 gig western digital caviar 7200 rpm 16 cache and and 80 gb IDE with important stuff from my current comp

with all the other small stuff, this comes to under 900$

Intel rig (over 1000$)

Q6600 G0

p35-ds3l

same gfx card

same case and same psu, and hdd

and the ram wold be gskill MQ pc6400

wich of these wold be better in price/performance?

take in mind, i have a limit of 1200$, but i also wanna buy a G25 racing wheel, so keep that in account, but if u have a better sub 900$ build in mind, go ahead...

To overclock that AMD CPU is the easiest thing in the world, I have gotten it to 3.4ghz stable, 3.2 would be stable for most people (All with air cooling and stock grease and zalman fan). Still that quad core destroys it in performance. I would say the M2N-SLI deluxe is much better.

Gaming isn't everything... and it would only be about 10$ more according that site to get a Q6600.

Video encoding/decoding? Real-time video capture and encoding with programs like FRAPS, for example, will be much more pleasant to use with a Quad. Also, I can decode and play 1080p H264 video on my PC while simultaneously transcoding and streaming high resolution video to my 360 without any hiccups..

Multimedia tasks in general will be more pleasant on a Quad. Heavy multitaskers will love 'em, too.

Gamespot benchmarks are generally **** Get some from a real site. And a quad will beat the c2d in any type of encoding program. Not to mention games that take advantage of quad cores, like crysis, will run better. And it's $10 more, not $150.
