What is better for games a wide screen monitor or the normal square monitors? How do I configure games which don't support wide screen's monitors so the picture will not be streched?

edit: I mean games which don't allow resolutions that fits wide screen monitors like 1440X900.

invariably i might add the bigger the monitor the happier you are going to be. 19" to 24" widescreen or not. Is a 24 wide larger than a 24" 4:3 ? would you prefer a 32" 4:3 over your 24" widescreen?

As for your second question, if there is no patch or option to force a widescreen you can more than likely run a game in a windowed mode. You'de have to look for option in the games menus, set it through your gpu's control panel or add a small bit of code to the games exe.

On the subject of which I prefer, there's a few answers for that. First I can't say I like all games on one or the other. Some games I play on my 19" 4:3 CRT (ADI Microscan G66) and some games I play on my 22" 16:10 Widescreen (HP W2207). To me the more important question is which technology is the best. I may be in the minority on this and thats fine, but I prefer CRT to most other technologies, period. When I went shopping for both my Computer monitor and my HDtv I compared them all and found CRT technology to me is the best even though it's the oldest.

Widescreen is awesome. Got a 24" widescreen Samsung. Wouldn't game any other way. Most games nowadays let you configure your resolution to widescreen format. For older games that don't, such as Diablo II that only supports 800 X 600, it stretches the image. It doesn't look THAT bad though...

Well to each his own I guess, but CRT's are painful to watch for me, and not to mention they use WAAY too much desk space..
