I tried this last night and it's awesome. Lounging on the couch surfing the internet with a wave of my "magic wand" is freakin sweet.

yeah ive seen the Wiimote being used. Dont you have to tweak some parts to get it to? They tried it in FPS and it was brutal, it could only be run on simple games.9mmSpliffNo, you just need a BT adapter and the right driver/interface. I am using WiinRemote. Haven't tried FPS yet. It's fun just using the wand and my BT keyboard on my bigscreen TV. No more need for a flat surface for the BT mouse.

It just didnt work that well, plus the game has to be able to use it. I might be wrong on the latter, but that is what I heard.
The Wiimote's piezoelectric-tilt sensor (up down left right at varying intensities) is used to mimic the mouse movement (up down left right at varying intensities). The problem with this is it's not very accurate. You have to hold the Wiimote level in order to keep the pointer stationary. Tilting it moves the pointer around the screen more like a joystick than a mouse.
Wii FPS games, on the other hand, use the IR sensor to find specific points on the screen like a pen pointer which is much more accurate. Unfortunately that's not how a mouse works, but is similar to a touchscreen. Perhaps at some point in time in the future better drivers may come about that can utilize more of the Wiimote's sensors.

Actually, the driver I use has a toggle feature so the pointer isn't always flying around the screen. Also, it has support for the nunchuk's analog stick and an IR port. Good research.

Neat. I wasn't aware of a driver that supported IR. Which are you using on yours and if you're using IR, how well does it work? I'll have to try this out when I get home.

It's called WiinRemote. It works alright but not as good as the Wii itself. It will get better in time.

Sorry, I realize my question was unclear. I meant which method of pointer detection are you using (motion, IR or nunchuck) and how does each work for you?

I use all three methods. Just trying each out to find pros and cons. For general browsing, the standart motion sensor is good because you can calibrate it however is most comfortable for you. The nunchuk is, well, analog but will be useful in games I imagine. The IR is very sensitive right now and because my port is only an inch wide, there is not a lot of gray area. Overall, I think it is just a novelty right now as all the support is in a pretty infant stage. Good looks on the horizon though and props to the people willing to give their time to the mod/hack scene.
