My friend, who is a console only gamer, says he read somewhere, forgot where, that Gearbox is putting the most effort of Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Wii U version, including the best graphics and more content. My friend has admitted that every game he sees being played on pc always looks better than all the current consoles. I know Gearbox will probably integrate the Wii U touchscreen pad for the game however I doubt the graphics will come close to a decent pc. Does anyone know if any of this is true especially with the "better graphics and extra content"?

Also for you pc gamers and pc gamer/ console gamers what are your thoughts on the Wii U? I bought a Wii U and it overall sucks, mostly due to how slow it is. I think games like Mario were more fun when I was young child and I have out grown them. To me they are occasionally fun when you play with other people. I despise the bumper buttons placement on the Wii U gamepad. The touchscreen is kind of annoying, tried with Zombie U. I don't like having to look down and remove my hand from the controller and touch, swipe, or tap things while playing. Yes it slightly adds to the tension of a zombie infested game however I think it adds more annoyance than anything else. The camera Zombie U tracking for detecting clues also seemed terrible (maybe I needed to do some kind of calibration). I literally had to contort my body like i was having a seizure to use that feature. In commercials you see people playing the Wii u with their arms almost straight out in front of them. That does make seeing the gamepad and tv/ monitor at the same time easier, however who really plays games with there arms out like Superman flying? I would also say that Zombie U plays a lot like Condemned however it barelely looks better which is pathetic being that Condemned is 7 years old. I don't expect high end pc graphics from a Wii U I just hoped the graphics will be noticably better than the current consoles, so far that is not true at all. I may keep my Wii U for the occasional two player game.

The Wii U Pro controller is incredibly comfortable, however the joysticks are little short. I am waiting for a driver or something that will allow use of the Pro Contrller to be used on pc. Some type of joystick extender may help the Pro Controller I will keep a look out for one.

The only idea from the Wii u touch screen gamepad I could see being interesting is the extra screen. For example I think in pc games it would be amazing to use a second monitor, smart phone, tablet, etc.. to constantly display something like a large version of your map. In a big rpg or action adventure game usually you frequently want to access your map so why not have a way to make it always visiable.

I have no thoughts on the wii u as a system but I strongly doubt that it will look better than the PC version. From what we have seen the wii u is more or less on par with the 360 and PS3.

My thoughts? I want one. It's gonna get so many amazing exclusives and some multiplats that'll be worth playing on it.

I'd be nice to see someone create a driver suite for the Gamepad. Stream some emus or something while laying in bed. :P

Gearbox was probably referring to the Wii U having the best looking console version of Colonial Marines, not the PC version.

I kinda like the gamepad myself, it opens up some nice possibilities, and has non game utility as well.

The Wii U is more powerful than the 360 and PS3, developers just need to get used to it more, the CPU seems weak initially because of its very slow clock speed, but it is a newer and more advanced architecture. Whether devs will be able to make compete or not is yet to be seen. The GPU is far more powerful than either the ps3 or 360, and being capable of compute tasks would allow devs to offload certain CPU tasks to the GPU to do if the developers have some problems with the CPU.

Still waaaay weaker than any decent gaming PC though.

i do keep my ps3 around for the rare great exclusive like Sly Cooper 4. Other than that I barely play console games. I know plenty of adults that only play console games. Usually it because they have moronic/ childish thoughts against pc gaming.

Only Gearbox would know that, there is no reason why the Wii U version should look better than the PC but I suppose it is possible if they made it that way.

Also for you pc gamers and pc gamer/ console gamers what are your thoughts on the Wii U?

Looks like they will have poor online support again, the controller looks alright except for the button placement, weather or not the screen is useful will depend on how much thought the developers give it, most likely it will be good, bad, or a needless gimmick based on the developer. I'm not sure what the Wii U is capable of but if it is just slightly better than the 360 or PS3 then that doesn't give me much hope for its future when it comes to third party support. I don't own one yet but I will, because I buy all consoles and want some of the exclusives. It remains to be seen if I would rather just play those exclusives on another console like most of the Wii's games.

Apparently you didn't really read much into the article about the 'wii u being the better version', or your friend didn't, it will be the better CONSOLE VERSION, the day a console beats pc will be the day I quit gaming.

No, YOU have been lied to. It's more powerful than the PS3 and 360, it's just not being utilized because unlike the 360/PS3, the games for the Wii U need to be more GPU intensive. The Wii U has a slightly weaker CPU than the 360/PS3, but a much more powerful GPU. Unfortunately not many devs are willing to take the time to adjust to that and ports are not great.

I really haven't been keeping up with it; ostensibly because I most likely will end up not getting one. I really do hope though that Nintendo makes more of an effort to bring back third-party support and not alienate the hardcore gaming audience as much this time around.

I tried Rayman Legends demo and it was fun, they did force you to use the touchscreen for part of the demo, it was interesting but not sure what other players would do when you do the touch screen interactions. Like the last Rayman game I have a feeling Legends will come out on pc eventually.

Based on Wii U's GPU die size and 64bit DDR3-800/1600 memory setup, Wii U basically has Radeon HD 7550M/7570M level GPU. "Wii U because it's not much more powerful then the Wii" is wrong.

Conceptually, the gamepad is an interesting idea but I'm not sure it will ever be more than that (unless the other manufacturers embrace it). Like the DS and 3DS, I don't see many third parties doing much with it. Touch can be implemented well with certain games, but it's a very limited control input IMO. Taking players' hands from buttons to a touch screen is not an efficient transition and will detrimentally affect games whose core input design requires both.

One of the better demonstration of wedding touch controls with current game genres is Uncharted: Golden Abyss. The ability to do charcoal rubs and reconstruct torn-up maps via touch really opened up the experience of being Nathan Drake, treasure hunter extraordinaire into a much broader concept. I liked the diversification it brought in that game, but I just don't see it doing much for others.

The greatest shortcoming, though, is the technical specifications. Neglecting technical prowess has worked in the past for Nintendo but I don't know how long they can continue to do it with their established properties. Is the Wii U capable of getting that support post Durango and Orbis launch? I'm just not sure how relevant a Nintendo system can remain if it doesn't introduce something big on the software end. A new franchise is necessary to really push the Wii U to the masses. Whether that comes from Nintendo or not is irrelevant, but there has to be something to drive the system to realize the concept it's pushing and I don't think we've seen anything yet to fill that role.

dolphin makes all wii games look bootiful on PC.
it's like nintendo wii game devs actually hire artists
crazy stuff

then on PC you often have games like PS2 where the artists are mediocre

BF3 is one of the few games on PC where they hired talented artists

so low poly, yet it looks like it has a lot more polies than it has

I think it's cool and the main Nintendo games will be godlike as always. Zelda and Mario alone would be reasons to get a WIIU but well I don't really wanna BUY one right now, at least not until the great games are released.

I picked up a Wii U when it launched. The system is good and the controller is fantastic. Now I just need to patiently wait for all of Nintendo to release all of their heavy hitters. The system makes a very nice complement to my PC.

The Wii U definitely forces me to use motion gaming at some point. Only way i would purchase a Wii u is if i could use the 360 copycat controller and nothing else.

I hate the gimmicky tablet too. I don't like anything about the Wii U.

I can honestly say I have had no desire to own or play anything by Nintendo since the N64 and, hell, that was only because it had Goldeneye.

If I had kids I might get it for them, as Nintendo was a big part of my childhood and I wish the same for them, but outside of that I dont give it a second thought

I mainly game on Nintendo consoles and my PC, since the 360 is a failure game wise, and I just don't have time for a ps3, although I'd like one. Of course, I'm getting it as soon as I see a black one somewhere.
