I've had 2x8800GT's in SLi on this PSU, so I'm fairly certain that a single 5850 should run well on a 500W PSU.

I've been out of the Hardware Enthusiast market for a while now, so I'm not really up to speed on the latest requirements by the new GPU technologies.

I will be upgrading from a ATi 4850 to a ATi 5850. Cheers for your help fellas.

:)

My brother is running Q8200 OC to 2.8ghz and a single Asus HD5850 with Huntkey Vpower 550W which actually only deliver around 420W. The pc hasn't encounter any problem yet. If your PSU is a 500W real power, then definitely it would not have any problem

Hmm... Rocked up with a Minimum PSU requirement of 550W's, and a recommended of 600W. A tad higher than I was expecting...

I have a 5850 and I use a 650 W PSU if that helps. Since other users say there is no problem with a 500 W PSU, you could go for it.

depends on the PSU. Usually quality brands with efficiancy at least 80% will have no problem Now if its a no name cheap PSU then it is most likely you will at some point encounter problems
