1: You don't need a dedicated NIC, unless you need dual ethernet ports for some reason. Get rid of it.

2: The X-Fi Xtreme Audio is nigh on worthless, and Creative's drivers aren't playing nice with Vista right now. I'd ditch the sound card for right now if budget is tight, or spend a little extra on the ASUS Xonar DX.

3: That's an LGA771 heatsink, and most likely won't work on an LGA775 board. Even if it does, I wouldn't use a passive cooler for a Q6600 in a desktop rig.

4: The 9800GX2 is just generally a poor card right now. I'd get a cheaper and better card like the 9800GTX or HD4850 instead.

5: Along with the graphics card, the power supply can be cut way back. A good ~650w unit is plenty for even a reasonably high-end SLI setup. Granted, you won't be running GTX 280 cards in SLI, but you should be good with most cards.

6: Don't pay money for a case/power supply combo, that's just wasting money.

Getting a 750i motherboard and a crosair 650w powersupply will still allow you to have sli and save you hundreds. Your are going to run sli right ? because if not then your wasting alot of money most people just buy one good card and upgrade it when needed so its up to you. I would recommend not going with sli and saving hundred of dollars UNLESS your playing at a very high resolution.

SLI is Nvidia only, it's called Crossfire with ATI cards. The Corsair TX650w or PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 will both do the trick. For the motherboard, I'd get an X38 or X48 chipset board for sure, since the HD4850 actually uses more than the x8/x8 bandwidth offered on the cheaper P45 chipset boards. RAM doesn't have to change. Nor enything else really. Maybe get a case with better ventilation.

You just took a step backwards compatibility wise. Pick up an X38 or X48 chipset LGA775 socket board. Not AM2, not AM2+, just LGA775. Or search by chipset, the X38/X48 chipset is Intel only.
