most definitely.  i'd recommend 1 gig while you're at it, actually.

Get 1.5 gigs for 2 gig total and you will be lock and loaded for years to come. Seems that the memory you have now is not enough to run everything you want flawlessly. 2 GB is more than enough and nothing will hold you back. Except dust which you should clean your computer with an air pressure can every 3-6 months. 3 months if it's near carpet.

Well it will help Oblivion but not as much as everyone is telling you.  Here is the GS test - http://www.gamespot.com/features/6147127/p-7.html (scroll to the bottom of the page)

512 to 1 gig helps a little and anything beyond 1 gig does not help at all.

Just get the additional 512MB RAM. Having more than 1GB wont make much difference in most games imo.

My system is a ram hog it uses 700 megs idle, and this is xp I don't know why it does this so I kinda reccomend 2 gigs if you do alot of stuff. 2 gigs isn't cutting it for me I do alot of video editing, and 2 gigs gets wiped out in about 35 seconds timed...

Hate to say it, but today you need at least 1GB to run games smooth. Usually 1GB is enough, I have yet to find a game that requires anything above that.

For oblivion? Yes. For stalker? No. That game is just extremely unoptmized in general. The only thing you can do is wait for a patch or upgrade your GPU to a 7900.

Absolutely, having at least a gig of RAM is a requirement in these days, and 2 gigs if you can.
