Will Dead Space 2 look considerably better on PC than it does on console?

I just played the demo for Dead Space 2 on my PS3. It featured flat and low resolutions textures, and no antil-aliasing what so ever. It was visually terrible. Will it actually look better on PC, unlike the first one?

I disagree. I recently bought the first for PC through Steam. It doesn't look any better than the PS3 version that I used to learn. I've got all settings set to the max, and the resolution of the textures is just as low as it is on PC. The only difference is that there's actually AA in the PC version. Aside from that, it doesn't look any better.

Higher resolutions already guarantee a sharper, cleaner look. And it's not really AA, it just blurs out the jaggies.

Yes, but the textures still look bland and dull. Here are two screen shots of the game at 1920x1080 with all settings maxed out. The game could have looked so much better on PC, yet this is what it looks like. For shame.

The "AA" in the PC version wasn't really AA. It was just a blur filter, and looked pretty awful if you ask me.

In any case, Dead Space on the PC did look better than it did on the PS3, and I fully expect we'll see the same with Dead Space 2.

Have you seen the picture above? Perhaps it does look minimally better, but it still looks terrible for a game that's on PC. The textures are so bad. They could have at least gone through and remapped the textures for the PC version.

I don't find Dead Space to be a bad looking game at all. Of course, seeing it in motion with the excellent lighting effects and animations really makes it shine.

They have no spent much time on textures because 95% of the game is in a VERY dark room ;)

How about this? Look at how terrible these textures are. Absolutely dreadful.

Some of the textures in BioShock and some other high-profile games were just as bad. And I think you're giving this too much weight. There are other elements that determine whether or not the game looks great. I think the animations, effects and models in Dead Space were spot on and made up for some mediocre textures. I also do believe you're in a minority in saying Dead Space was a bad looking game.

The game looks great for console, but it could look so much better on PC. In my opinion, it's maximum settings are equivalent to low settings for most other games. In my opinion, textures are the most important graphical aspect of a game.

Theres this misconception about pc games looking way better.

From a technical standpoint they will look sharper, wall tiles and whatever other doodads have a little bit more detail but honestly for all intents and purposes they look the exact same during actual gameplay.

We pay for this technicality via needing machines with 4 times the specs of consoles and major delays in most multi-platform releases.

Most games dont even bother remaking the main menu for mouse support, did u really think theyd make extra graphics for pc?

Depends on the game, most console ports will not look any better than console versions aside from the usual resolution, AA and AF. But then there's games made with PC in mind like Metro 2033 and upcoming Crysis 2 that features way more graphics options for PC.

Dead Space PC was a straight port, changing AA etc had no affect, so I would say it was identical to console versions and I bet Dead Space 2 will be exactly the same. They weren't even going to release it on PC and we didn't even get a demo, so don't expect any extra effort such as advanced graphics options. They will swap out the controller for mouse and keyboard and that's it. Still looking forward to it though!

Because Dead Space is the title every PC gamer looks forward too right? :o

It was a cheap port, and it sold bad, they didn't even want to make Dead Space II on PC. Just be happy that it is on PC, with the lack of interest in the first game.

And i disagree, resolution does make a lot of difference, console games can be rather unplayable, it's not nearly the same. You don't want to pay for it, you don't have to.

People like you just want to complain about everything. You say MOST games are delayed, while it's only the AC series really, with Ubisoft and their idiotic ways.

You don't want to play on PC, you don't have to, if your only interest is in multi-plats just get a console and stop spreading negativity and misinformation on the forum.

The differences are probably going to be minimal enough that I'll get the 360 version if I somehow find it cheaper than the pc one.

While I totally agree with most of your post.. what do you mean PC games don't get delayed? PC games get pushed back ALLLLL the time. I know it's usually for the best and what not in "most" cases. But hell, the fact that PC gamers are used to the term "Valve Time" alone proves a lot of PC games get pushed back.

It'll probably look better but not by much, if you go by the first Dead Space. The first Dead Space didn't look that much better than its PC counterpart and I'm betting the second one will follow suit. I hope this time, they put some damn AA in the game.

it Will look better because of higher resolution and AA but significantly better because of more higher graphic denial probably not.

We both played the first Dead Space. And from what I saw, AA was "poorly" implemented in the first game. Sure, the higher resolution helps but do you think they will support AA better this time?
