My cpu is worse a AMD 3800+ single core and I have a 9800GTX and I'm fine.
Pentiums are VERY slow by today's standards, and will definitely bottleneck your graphics card. You can get an E7200 for about $120. It should be good enough for your 9800 and it overclocks really well too.User10293

I max out Bioshock, COD4, Half Life 2, Cellfactor, and more all games are maxed except Crysis and since you got a dual core you will be fine. You can always overclock to 3.6Ghz.

What are some good CPU that I can get with an ideal price? Perferrably Intel...
Also if I get a new CPU that means I will have to change my motherboard right?
Since it probably doesnt support the latest stuff like Quad coreAbdullahcoolyo
Theres a good chance you could upgrade to a core 2 since youve already got a dual core CPU. Well actually that motherboard does support core 2 duo so you could upgrade without a new motherboard.

You sir are a lier... single core processor would bottleneck the **** out of that 9800GTX and you wouldn not be fine at all. To the topic creator... buy a Q6600 or a E8500 and you'll be good. If you want wanna bottleneck, you gotta upgrade

Two weeks ago I upgraded from an 8600gt to a 9800gtx+ (MSI) and my 3DMark06 score went from 3,500 to 6,700. Last week I changed out my Athlon 64 3700+ for an AMD Athlon X2 6000+. My 3DMark score went from 6,700 to over 12,000 after I made the switch.[QUOTE="nVidiaGaMer"][QUOTE="Abdullahcoolyo"][QUOTE="Spybot_9"]Yes that CPU is weak.Newsboy

I know that my system maxes out every game at 1280x1024 except Crysis which runs fine on medium/high.

Crysis either hates ATI, your definition of "fine" is much different than mine, or the demo performs like crap... I barely get 20 fps with an 4850. (have only tried demo)

Well, in the game of Crysis I was having issues with incoherant audio and rugged framerate on all high settings with the 3700+...now I can play on all high settings at 1680x1050 with 2xaa and the framerate is very playable. It's not just Crysis, games like Age of Conan and World in Conflict are also optimised to run on dual core processors. Please Log In to post.
