Will there be a huge change in performance between the E6600 and the E6700? I went to toms hardware and there was little bit of a diffrence. The only real diffrence i saw was the price between them so is the E6700 really worth it money is not really the issue its just if im going to spend about $200 more i want there to me a huge diffrence. Also I was planning on getting one of the 680i mobo
http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813188011
and i was reading before that it had some problems making me have second thoughs about getting it... i also want to know if this mobo is really bad last time i checked it was the best..... I am finally ordering this comps parts tommorow its been 2 months. Also one last thing do you like this case? http://pc.gamespy.com/articles/767/767965p4.htmlhttp://pc.gamespy.com/articles/767/767965p4.html
(look at the bottom of this page) normally this case is blue but i was going to do what gamespy did and replace the fans with quiter green fans. there are like 5 fans in the case so the temprature inside the case should stay pretty low prob around 32C at its highest
ok thankyou for your help

well there is a performance difference obviously, but the E6700 can be OCed a bit more the E6600, unless you really want to save those extra bit of cash i would suggest getting the E6700.

I'd have to disagree.  For the cash difference, there isn't much of a performance leap between the E6600 and E6700.  I'd suggest getting the 6600 then just OCing (as it can easily surpas the 2.66Ghz of the E6700).  I have mine running @ 3.2Ghz, so there is definately no need to spend the extra cash.  I hope that helps.

What, how much help do you need lol?  The E6600 is definately better value for money, that's your main question isn't it?  Granted that this is only my opinion (based on personal experience, as my friend has a similar rig to mine with an E6700).  Get the E6600 man, just overclock and you can run on air no probs.

The 680i problems can be fixed with a BIOS update. Do that before you install your hard drives (or at least before you install your operating system), and you shouldn't run into any problems.

Get the E6600 and oc. Since you're getting a 680i mobo, I'm assuming you are getting at least an 8800GTS, so you'll want to run high resolutions which will be bottlenecked by the gpu anyway. The 680i board should be fine with a BIOS update as long as you don't get some obscure ram or psu brand.

NOT EVERYONE IS A OVERCLOCKER. People ask him first if he overclocks, its not as simple as it sounds. The E6600 is my choice, even if you dont overclock. IMO, no the money difference of double the cash is not worth the extra .2. Like others said, if you can overclock, then the E6600 is your bet. People have hit 4.0Ghz with them, right cooling and RAM, PSU, MoBo combo.

Good luck overclocking to 3.4Ghz.  Unless you have top quality RAM, Mobo and Cooling you're looking at 2.8 - 3Ghz tops.  OR, you could just get the E6600 and OC to 3.7Ghz on stock air (already done, and was stable for me).  I'd still go with the E6600, but if you're strapped for cash, then yes the 6300 would be a very good choice.

There's no point in overclocking the E6600, anyway. Don't forget that it is faster and more powerful than an FX-62. How much more power do you need? Go with the E6600 and the 680i only if you plan on running SLI. Otherwise, I'd just go with a good P965 board like the Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6, the abit QuadGT and Asus P5B-E Plus/P5B Deluxe.
