Will it be eaten for breakfast by the latest games?

Hi,

This is my stuff:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+

2x XFX 7800GT

1GB Crucial DDR-SDRAM PC-4000 (250 MHz)

I'm guessing they arent too good this day and age, but how would it fare against the latest games with these upgrades:

Another GB of RAM

& a better processor

Obviously this isnt gonna be a Crysis machine, but i plan on running games like Bioshock, COD4 and HL: Orange Box. I also plan on getting a 22" Samsung (226BW) to go with it.

How well will it do at 1600x1200? (with upgrades)

Any advice, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. :)

if you really want to see a difference then buy a new GPU.. upgrading all of those will increase your fps by maybe 10 fps..

If you get a 22" monitor, your top priority is to get a new grphics card. You'll need at least a 8800GTS to perform effectively at that resolution.

yeah really, thats a pretty tough resolution to run. But most of those games will run really well with that new hardware. Especially if you keep them at at least 1152 X 960 or something like that.

If you can stand your current monitor, those upgrades are fine. If you really want that new monitor, you'll need a better graphics card (and a PCI-e slot to put it in).

Pssh, I didn't even notice that. Yeah, he could probably get by with what he's got already. I'd just go with that extra GB of RAM.
