Hey guys quick question...

I'm getting the radeon 6950 for my desktop:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/12454-12454-3329740-64546-64546-5146449-5157014.html?dnr=1

But i need to upgrade my power supply to do so.

Will these power supplies work on my computer and on the 6950 graphic card?

And if so what one is the better choice:

I wouldn't buy either.

Buy a PSU from a good brand like corsair, antec, seasonic, fsp, ocz etc.

I dont know if they ship where you live but this one seems to be the same price as the other ones you are looking for:

Do you plan on running CrossFire in the future? If not a 500W will work but if you are then you'll need at least a 750W. I never buy computer hardware from Futon Shop because they carry crap brands like RocketFish. Try Memory Express or B-Com if you have one in your town.

Try this one for future proofness: Antec High Current Pro 900Watt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371050

JimmyJumpy

Completely unnecessary unless he's running like dual 590s. Even if he wants to have multiple cards a good 750w will do it fine.

If you don't have any crossfire plans this is probably among the best reliability&watts per coin you can find at the moment, when looking at the Canadian prices. *On a second thought, this unit would power even two 6950s.

Then why are you using a 950W PSU for your 6870's? A single 6950 uses 200-250W alone.

The 950W PSU was part of a bundle deal I purchased back in 2009 when I built this rig. And a 6950 at stock speeds doesn't exceed 200W.

Man my 275 uses too much power. I thought it was similar to a 260 with higher clocks, how does it use 40 watts more?

182W maximum for a 6950? Yeah right. I tested my Asus 6950's at 223W on idle.

^^ They are readings at the wall outlet. And no way is your card using +200W idle.

Especially since that's basically the max power draw for the card at load.

Idle your card should be pulling low double digits.

I have the OC edition (+10Mhz) and I actually meant to say under load. Also if those are watts at the outlet then how do you explain this?

I don't know what there is to explain. The bit-tech measurements seem reasonable and matches quite well readings presented by guru3d and tomshardware to name a couple. The chart from the site I have never even seen before that you posted is either achieved by using some very crappy socket power meter with an accuracy of several +-percents, or with some seriously crazy system beside the GPU. *And yeah, that's some heavy overclocking right there on your card.

(Gamespot HTML Fail) The huge difference in wattage is what I'm referring to when both are apparently measured from the socket. These guys (which I'm sure you heard of) also get similar readings to the former chart I posted. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/asus_hd_6950_review/16.htm HIS cards seem to get lower power consumption ratings. I use to buy their cards and when most other card manufacturers would have a power connector on a particular model, HIS would not. I phoned AMD and the rep said that GPU can consume anywhere from 180W to 230W depending on the settings used by the manufacturer so I'm not sure how some of the ratings I've been finding can even be possible.

The bit-tech numbers seem too lower for the entire system but do indicate that the card is very much capable of going over 200W.

Why you ignoring the only chart that is of relevance here, the techpowerup card only power draws?

The GTX 275 has 240 SPU's, while the GTX 260 has 192 (or 216 for the "Core 216" version).
