If I was to buy a second 6970, would my Q6600 @ 3.6ghz bottleneck the cards?

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Most of the time, depending on game and resolution.

nope your cpu is still capable at current clocks if it were at stocks then definitely.

If you play at your max resolution, I don't think so...

Edit : Oh, I think I mixed 2 processes... kentsfeild and yorkfeild.

Yeah I think your processor will be a bottleneck for Crossfire... sorry about that.

i think the question should not be about bottle-necking but rather about if you will really benefit at your resolution. are you planning to get a bigger monitor soon? i wouldn't bother if i were you and would in general always prefer a better single card over adding another.

It will a bit in most games, but you should still see a jump in performance.

However heavy CPU games won't change a huge amount.
