*I CREATED THIS TOPIC BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE WAS GETTING OFF-TOPIC*

This seemed more hardware related, so i posted it here.

Im planning to buy either dual core 2 or a geoforce 9800gt.

My question is, IF i get the card, will i be able to play: Far cry 2, Crysis, Gears of war, etc.

www.canyourunit.com  says ihave the min requirements (except for the graphics card)

my specs:

Processor Name:  Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz

Videocard Name:  Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family  (temporarily, getting a better card [...the whole point of the topic])

Installed Memory:  1,014.03 MB (if it matters, i did the SYSTEM PROPERTIES>ADVANCED>PERFORMANCE SETTINGS>ADVANCED>VIRTUAL MEMORY trick/change, and ut says i have 5601mb of virtual ram/memory)

so...yeah. Will i be able to play the above games smothly (i dont care if i have to play them in low quality, btw)?

I just asked because there are videos of people playing games like crysis in pentium 4 with worse graphic cards than the ( 9800gt

(sorry if i wrote too much)

you need to upgrade both cpu and the card.

if u get only the card ur cpu will bottleneck, so i recommend that u get E8400 and 9800GTX ( there`s no big difference between gt and gtx)

If you have the choose, get the graphics card, but I doubt you have a power supply that can handle it. What's your power supply?

Also you need another Gb RAM.

If it matters, in "canyourunit.com" it says "You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz"tso...does the "two processors" matter?

Its a single core, I think its an issue with canyourunit.com

I recommend the 9800gt for you. Im saying 9800gt over 8800gt bc you will get drivers for a longer amount of time. Also, get another gig of ram

Ok, i may buy something called PC CHIPS, which is a motherboard that includesgeforce 7500, a sound card (better than mine) and buy core 2 duo with it. This looks like a better deal, and maybe later i could buy 9800gt.

Would you recommend this? My friend has thiss and he says its great.

Ugh...im looking at reviews, and PC chips looks...pretty bad. Is there any other motherboard that includes a good graphics card and supports core 2 duo ?

I dont recommend PC chips for motherboards. Try Asus, Gigabyte, or Foxconn

Wouldn't recommend it; no motherboard with onboard graphics is worth having for gaming. Provided your PSU can handle it, I would buy more RAM and the GPU now, and a new CPU and motherboard when you get the money. Bear in mind that if you upgrade to C2D you will very probably need to get a new mobo as well as the CPU though. To be honest, if you are looking at doing the GPU, CPU, RAM, mobo and PSU you may as well just build a new PC.

Ok, my motherboard can handle a core 2 duo (but until e600 or something like that) so i think ill buy the card, a core 2 duo and ram.

It can handle from e4300 to a e6700, which is fine by me

(im lanning to buy from e4600 above, a friend has an overclocked e4600  and it works really good)

Buy both the GPU, processor and ram. Maybe more hardrive space, if needed.
