haha dude just buy the card! it seems you're really anxious to buy the card by asking a million questions (not that that is bad, its good actually) but with the purchase of the card i can guarantee you that you won't be disappointed! from the upgrade of your current card to the 8800 gts the games you played before would feel almost like a totally different game.

My max resolution on my current monitor is 1280X1024 so I was thinking I would just go with the 320. But I've heard some games are taking more memory than that at that res these days. Which version would you reccomend? the 320 mb or the 640?

Yeah dude, I know I keep asking in different posts, but they are at least different questions everytime, so I'm not trolling the board. I just wanna make sure I'm not wasting my money on unused peformance.

the 320mb is more than enough for you to max out any game at that resolution.... but it might be worth getting the 640 if you have any plans to get a bigger monitor sometime in the future. But i would base my decision off of the price... if you save a lot by getting the 320mb version, then do that and buy yourself some nice new games

It should be fine from what i read from Nvidia that the 8800 series actully takes alot of the Processor workload and does it with the Graphics card so i dont think your processor will bottleneck it to much i wouldent worry just get it!

Think of it this way when you upgrade your CPU to a C2D or get a bigger monitor the 8800GTS 320 may hold you back./ So getting the 640MB version makes the card more viable for a longer period of time.

It will certainly bottleneck a bit, but you might as well buy it.

Eh, I don't see myself getting a bigger monitor for a log time, though I will get a C2D E6600 this year sometime. I'm just hoping that 320 will be enough for DX10 games coming out even at my res (1280x1024).

Geez, I wish I could just make a decision. I am the most indecisive person I know. I just wanna be able to *u** **i* up on crysis when it comes out and play medieval 2 on full blast. I'll be getting the processor later in the year (E6600 hopefully)

just get the 320 mb version dude..... change the processor later this yr like you said you will..... and since you're not changing the monitor anytime soon, you really shouldn't have any problem whatsoever....a 320mb gts and an E660 will work like a charm...you'd be amazed to see how good ur system is.

Depends, low resolution = no point, high resolution = not as much of a bottleneck.

What do you mean no point? I wouldn't say that 1280x1024 is that terribly bad.

DONT BUY!!!!!!!!!

save the money' and when the R600 will go out (i think in 2 monthes) and the cheaper DX10 cards, video cards will be a lot cheaper and you will be able to buy a C2D and a DX10 card

Well, I probably am going to wait a while for them to drop in price. I'll probably stay with Nvidia though(I kinda hate the whole Catalyst setup for drivers).

Its your choice... I dont quite know why but I usually end up going out of my way to get AMD and Nvidia
