I =have a kind of adapter device that you plug into the top of your 360 and you plug into the console so you can charge it as you play. Will I be able to use this to connect tothe computer or will I have to buy the wireless adapter?

Only if your 360 is an early one, for the most part. Some other people got lucky. Officially, the answer's no, though.

This is the way to do it unfortunately the wireless 360 controller can only send it signal wirelessly and the only thing the play and charge does is charge while you play so you definitely need the device to plug into your computer. I have seen them for around $20.

A wired controller works fine if you just plug it in but you need the windows x360 wireless receiver to make wireless controllers work.
