The 8800 GTS 320MB is being discontinued with the release of the GT. Common sense says the prices will fall on the cards around it's performance range, being the GTS and GTX. As for the performance, there is a UT3 demo benchmark floating around that placed it very close to the GTX, but it was done at 12x10 without AA or AF. I'd wait for more benchmarks before confirming it's performance.FLAMEINSANEso with aa and af on would you say in the end that the gtx will still be a better buy

Better buy? Probably not. More powerful? Most likely.
Better buy would be using 2 8800gt in SLI, getting the HD3870 or waiting for the new high end cards.

yeah i know i wish i could do 8800gt sli but i only have one slotthe 8800GT has 8 more texture units,4 more raster operators, 16 more shaders, and the shaders are clocked at 1500.
the only thing that the 8800gts has better than the GT, is the memory bandwidth, and if you overclock the 8800GT, 100mhz extra on the memory, u'll get equal bandwidth with the 8800GTS. so why get the 8800GTS if the GT is there??
with aheavy overclock, you could beat the 8800GTX.
and guys please stop talking about crysis, there are other games to worry about, like alan wake, assassin's creed, and need for speed pro street.
Edit: isnt it amazing, when cards step from the 90nm to 65nm, miracles could happen. IMO nvidia should sell this card for 300 at least.

lol are you serious... too much money on your hands or something :P 150-200 is a good price. Besides the 8800 series are a year old now soon we will see new high endseries arrive. The 8800 320mbis 280 euros atm. A price drop would be reasonable...

I haven't found this confirmed anywhere.
I still think the GT has 16ROPs and probably 28TMUs, which is only 4TMUs more than the current GTS.
Though it isn't out of the question that Nvidia dropped the TMUs.

It's part of the conditioning to high[way robbery] prices for decent vid cards that's been widespread lately. Also I guess the effect of competition hadn't entered the equation. To put it into perspective, the impending RV670 release made NVIDIA up the clocks on the G92 which required re-evaluation of the single slot cooler. More true competition almost always leads to lower prices. I love it and I am glad I didn't get a GTS.
