Just a simple question, though there might not be a major answer as of yet. I know that SC is obviously massive in Korea, and tournies still going strong etc. Does anyone know will they switch to the new SC when it releases? Just curious

Yeah, thats why getting rid of LAN always struck me as dumb. If they really want SC2 to be a successor to the original, its going to also have to fill the competitive role, which you can't really do without LAN support.Everyone loves LAN. No lag is better than little lag. How many live competitive gaming tournaments happen over an internet connection? They're all on LAN if the game allows it.

Blizzard said as long as you connect to battle.net you will be able to have LAN so thats not the huge worry. But I do think it will be an extremely competitive game as for the koreans don't know don't care as long as the foreign scene moves :Dgunmaster55555Then that technically wouldn't be LAN.
Koreans don't care about LAN. We have the fastest internet in the world.k0r3aN_pR1d3Yeah I was thinking that. I wouldnt be surprised if Blizzard release a seperate tournament/Korea specific edition or various changes.
It was kind of silly of blizzard to remove LAN. Atleast all of Blizzard's games are fairly nice in terms of how much data they send out and recieve. Some of us only have 10gbs a month at 6.1mbps.... :(
I don't know if the computer will be up to spec. When I was in Korea, I realized the majority of people do not own high end gaming computers and the internet cafe's were basically mid grade PCs.JunkTrapThis was what I was thinking as well. I can't imagine the average person in Korea has a great gaming rig. That being said, the requirements for SC2 are pretty minimal by today's standards.
From what Ive been reading, the game WILL have LAN support. You will just connect to Bnet to "authenticate" your copy, but after that it will work as a regular LAN. I don't think this is so bad :) also, Diablo 3 will have the same system.alvaro_pgI agree, that's not bad at all. I mean seriously, how many people have a gaming computer but no internet?
might not...no LAN support...

So? Korean infrastructure is among the most advanced world. I really don't think that's going to be a big issue for them..
I've got a feeling [QUOTE="gunmaster55555"]Blizzard said as long as you connect to battle.net you will be able to have LAN so thats not the huge worry. kdawg88I got a feeling that's so people can't play LAN using illegal copies of the game.
What is this...logic? how dare you >.< using logic when people want to just whine about such trivial things.
I always find it funny when they use the"Korean" excuse and if you ask Koreans, as said before, they don't even care about LAN.
You must have at least a single computer connected to the internet when you're doing a LAN, I don't see what's so hard to share internet through it, go online on B.net and use the LAN feature...oh right...most people that talk about LAN actually mean playing the exact same game with the same licence over several PCs (sure, not all of them, some actually stay legit and get a licence/game for themselves but in most cases LAN=duplicating one game on more computers and it's funny when you get such threads on GS -las one I believe it was about DoW 2 and the fact that Relic are ripping us off of our money because you can't use Steam on several PCs with the same account at the same time to play CO-OP).
