CSS is one of the most popular FPS games in the world, it's also one of the most popular hackers games in world and is greatly abused! which is quite unfortunate.

But I don't expect there to be a new CSS until literally a new Half Life comes out. Not the episodic versions.

It does have HDR lighting for a few maps like De_Dust. They havn't bothered to update many others though.

anybody's seen the stuff for left 4 dead, it's basically a spiritual successor* to counter strike but it's more based on co-op, and has zombies.

*most of the guys that worked on the counter stike mod formed turtle rock studios which is making this game.

Anyways Left 4 Dead is nothing like Counter-strike what so ever.. Its a zombie survival game co-op that pits you against mass amounts of zombies, with half of the 8 capable of playing as zombie bosses.

The only thing it has in common is it has gun and its multiplayer.

Anyways these several games have me real excited, Left4Dead, Natural Selection 2, Alien Swarm Infestation, and Team Fortress 2.. Hopefully every one is a big hit.

Actually, he speaks the truth, they are making a new Counter-Strike game called Counter-Strike: Online. Its only coming out in Asia, and Its being published and developed by the people who made MapleStory. I don't think its going to be a RPG/FPS hybrid like shinian said, but they are making it, so who knows for sure? They might have to implement RPG/FPS type play in order for it to gain popularity over in Asia. Since I heard FPS don't do very well over there.

I think they will upgrade the Source engine, and it may have even happened already. I remember in the video for Episode 2 they said something about the outdoors levels being very elaborate and more detailed than in Halflife 2 (the buggy part was fun but it wasnt exactly the most detailed of levels imo).

Honestly, though, I love the Source engine; amazing models and detailed, clean textures. Just wish they would tone down the HDR a bit, Episode 1 killed my eyes.

As for Counterstrike, I dont think theyll make a new one. They might though, but guess what...it will use the SOurce engine, and everyone will be playing Dust 2 still.
