It's a Gateway Gt5628 I was wondering if this would be able to run a ATI Radeon 5770? Specs: 3 gigs of DDR2 Ram Currently using the Geforce 8500GT had switched it out with a older Radeon but it fried so put the OEM in one. Quad Q6600 quad core processor. If there's anything else you need let me know.

8500GT is pretty low-end. I wouldn't expect to get a whole lot of performance out of it.

Oooh I got confused. Scratch what I said. It really depends on your PSU wattage, whether ur PSU has a PCI-E connector, and whether ur motherboard a PCI-E x16 slot which might be what ur 8500GT is using.

Yeah it's using PCI-E not sure about the x16 slot but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

you are probably right on the bubble of 350wt-400wts of usage. You could try it, but you do risk burning your PSU out and maybe running into a problem with the GPU. Here is a mATX PSU for that Gateway http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817338038&cm_re=mATX_PSU-_-17-338-038-_-Product. I can not see it using an ATX, but if it did, you have to watch the length. I had a Compaq given to me for free once. I disembled it and stuck it in an aftermarket case with an aftermarket CPU and more RAM. Then I was able to run my ATI X800xl OC off of it. Man that was a while ago. lol

Are you certain that the PSU is of mATX form factor? After eyeballing some pics of the internals, I was under the impression that the PSU was standard ATX.

Oops, typing fail. I was wondering whether or not the OP's Gateway requires a mATX PSU, NOT whether or not the PSU you linked is mATX.

Sorry about the confusion :P

400watts is good enough, it will work because the 5770 doesn't require much, its quite efficient. Yea it will be on the edge but i dont think it will blow. It never hurts to upgrade though. Local PC shops sometimes have 500Watt PSU's for like 30$. My experience.

I've been running my 5770 on a 400W PSU for some time now. Granted, the 400W is pushing it, running on a card that requires 500W, and the whole thing is not very efficient. But it is defiantly possible.

So it's working fine on your 400 watt PSU or should I just upgrade the PSU as well?

That will definitely bottleneck your PC. If your budget if less than $100.. Go for the 4850 1gb.. It may not support directx 11, but it's quite fast. For around $140, you can get the 5750 or 5770, which is great since it already support directx 11..

If money is tight then don't upgrade your PSU, I mean, you should be alright. But if you have the extra cash then I would just to be safe.
