Will this hdd effect my performence

heres what i found after taking apart my old external enclosure

so i was wondering when i build my new system if i use this hdd which is sata-300 will it effect my performence or would it be much more worth it to buy a sata 3gb/s . i am trying to save as much money as possible and so i just need to no if i should use this or a newer model??

Gigabit/second is very different than Gigabyte/second.

there is 3 kinds of SATA: SATA 1.0 Which has a 150 Mb/s Interface

SATA II Which is a list of features for the HDD both the SATA 1.0 And SATA 3G can suport it.

SATA 3G Which doubles the bandwith from 150 Mb/S to 300 Mb/s

To tell you although SATA 3G is 3 Gigabytes the actual transfer rate is 300 Mb/s and for SATA 1.0 IT's 150 MB/s actual transfer rate.

You sure about that? I am only aware of SATA I and SATA II. I have always heard that SATA II is the same as SATA 3Gb/s. I know they are making a SATA 6Gb/s.

i can confirme this as it's the same i have read in PCGamer PC building Bible 2008 so i am pretty sure about this669594

I would not trust that, Read this. They have 3 different SATA's, but the third is SATA 6Gb/s that has not been released. Read the part under "dispelling the confusion". "In the past, the term "SATA II" sometimes was mistakenly used as a moniker for the SATA 3Gb/s data transfer rate, causeing great confusion with customers because, quite simply, it's a misnomer."

Also on the wiki page they only say there is SATA 1.5, SATA 3.0, and soon SATA 6.0.

if you have read correctly i said that SATA II is NOT an HDD Format it's just a list of features there is SATA 150 Mb/s and SATA 300 MB/s only !669594

Then why did you say " there is 3 kinds of SATA: SATA 1.0.... SATA II...... SATA 3G" Sounds to me like you thought there were three different kinds, then you say you can confirm this cause you read it in a magazine.

Maybe the problem isn't with my reading, but with your writing or understanding.
