what do you think? They must be far enough along in the game to show a trailer before the years out. Something to keep our anticipation up for the game.

I doubt they'd show it before L4D2 comes out, as they wouldn't want to interfere with the marketing for that....but I guess a teaser trailer would be possible, sure.

I am very quietly hoping for a december surprise. Reason I still hold some hope is I do believe that they are definitely not going to advertising anything else now when L4D2 is just around the corner, once it's out and been sold (say 1 month) it's open season. I think it would be cruel to not give us something, a screenshot, a teaser site, a short movie. I'm not ruling anything out before 09 leaves us behind, but it might not be much.

Not this year, L4D2's coming out in November. I would expect some news at E3 in 2010 if anything.

It'd be nice....

Won't hold my breath waiting though. Either way, I've got plenty of games to play regardless, so it's certainly not on my radar at the moment.

That's not likely. They are probably still just doing research and concept art about story, characters, etc. If I'm right the only info we have about it is some concept art and the fact that they were doing research for hand signs for a deaf character, so I guess they are still too early in production even after all these years to show anything like a trailer.

Wouldn't that be the ultimate surprise: buy L4D2 to see the EP3 teaser ;)

No they are too busy with L4D2 and then a Dota project. I think they are going to end up just doing a L4D3 before Half life ep 3 is even announced. Most of you may think I am joking but I would be surprised if it wasn't like that.

No, no and no. I'm starting to think that Valve totally forgot about Episode 3.

It's possible, but I don't think it will happen.

I doubt they hardly have anything to show. They have writer's block with ep 3.

Seeing as how Valve failed miserably on the whole episodic content concept, I doubt we'll see anything until 2010.

It would literally be a Christmas miracle if they did

and by that, I think marketing would be like "Hey, lets do this on Christmas or something, and say 'coming Christmas 2010' "

but no, I dont think they will

Qixote

Read this.

Not only is it full of fascinating insights into the Half-Life universe but Laidlaw also states that the story for the episodes was fleshed out before episode one was made. Which is really good to know.

I personally think Valve is maintaining absolute silence on this because they simply don't want to show anything until they're nearly finished the game. I think we will probably see our first glimpse at E3 next year and a release in fall 2010.

Well I read it, and it didn't sound convincing. And his exact words were "relatively fleshed out", which could mean anything. The fact is, Valve has shown us zero progress with episode 3, so we can only assume that progress has been stalled.

I agree.

I did not read the link (I am drunk atm) but personally, I trust Valve.

I think they re gonna wow us like never before. I even bet theyre gonna release A.) a heavily modified Source engine, or B.) even Source 2.0. With that said, they are remaining tight-lipped about the plot because they really want to surprise us. If it is half as exciting as the plot of Episode 2, it will not be a letdown.

As I said, I have faith in Valve concerning their original work, I think the rest of PC gamers should as well. They really are one of the few remaining champions of PC gaming.
