Now that ESO is dropping the subscription fee will you guys be buying it? I am going to check it out because I love the Elder Scrolls.

I found it boring and dull during the beta - animations were awful, story was very lacking and the gameplay wasn't anything different from most other MMOs. Even if free, I won't bother to waste my time there.
As far as I understand, the game will essentially be trying to mimic Guild Wars 2, right? You have to buy the game to get in but you wont need a sub to stay in. To get extra content and expansions you will need to pay but otherwise, it will be B2P. Now, will I get it? Maybe on sale but no one ever really said it was any good. None of my friends got it and I was never impressed by the gameplay videos so lol...it might take a trial run to be sold on it.

Yep, exactly right except that you can still pay the subscription fee to be a premium member. You will get crowns (store credit) each month and all DLC and expansions will be free for Premium members.
As for the topic, I own ESO already so my account will just go F2P and that way I might be able to play a bit more.
I don't know anyone who has ever played it, and I don't care enough about The Elder Scrolls' lore to want to play this, so I'll probably avoid it.
Does it do anything better than GW2, gameplay-wise? I'm specifically talking about single-player content, because I'd never be playing this with friends.

Not really, but they are a bit different in gameplay styles. Also, ESO lets you play in first person mode like all the other Elder Scrolls games, which gives it a bit of personal immersion into the combat.
I already own it and do plan on playing every now and then once it loses the subscription cost. I actually enjoyed this game quite a bit, but couldn't justify paying the sub fee for how much I was looking to play it. No sub fee means I can just hop on and play casually.
too generic and boring for me. I don't have the time to justify playing something so painfully mediocre even if its free.
I would like to play the final product. I played the beta and thought it was ok...
It is hard to pull me away from WoW and SWGEMU these days... SWG is the tops!
They are adding a good bit of new content for endgame too in ESO. Probably a different game now to some degree.

I think I am going to try and pick it up sometime soon.
I won't because it has very poor feedback from fans and critics alike and looks pretty dated when it comes to MMOs. Not to mention that I was one of unlucky few that skipped out on Elder Scrolls franchise entirely and would rather try out single player titles first. Not too sure if I should start with Morrowind or jump straight to Skyrim though.
I'm not a big fan of the Elder Scrolls games but Morrowind is a lot better than Skyrim.
I'll definitely pick it up, but the subscription fee drops in March I believe. You still have to purchase the game.
EDIT: Just bought the game for $27 now, I have a feeling the price will rise.

Yes it will because a new version is coming:

Interesting....what is that about?
I barely made it through the beta without falling asleep to be totally honest, the artstyle, characters and combat were about as generic as a box of frosted flakes. Even as B2P I can't see myself getting to invested in it and hearing about the problems with everyone playing the same build in PvP doesn't help convince there is anything worth wild going on in ESO.

Just the new retail version of the game without subscription.
Don't know if it comes with any new goodies or not yet.
I played ESO beta. It sucked. While I'm sure improvements have been made to the game since then, I generally only give a company one chance to impress me before laying down any money. They failed at that. The only thing that would cause me to give it another shot would be if my gaming buddies all decided to go back and play it. The odds of that happening are pretty close to zero.

So you gave a game one try, a beta in this case, and a year later you refuse to try it.....mmmm k.
To each his own I guess.

When you put 20 or 30 hours into a game and get very little actual enjoyment from it, why would any sane person go back and play it again on the off chance that it's "better now"? At best, I'd say it sucks less now, but sucking less and being good aren't the same thing.

Fair enough.

I think it comes with all the DLC, but I'm not totally sure yet if I'm going to like the game enough for the DLC to even matter.
I'd like to try it out to explore the world and lore. Other stuff doesn't interest me.
It has heaps of lore and story, even books you can read.
