I am interested in trying Windows 7 and have a question about how to use it as obviously I already have another OS running (XP)

How can i download 7 and keep XP?

Also, will it run ok with 1.5gb of ram in dual channel?

Yeha its definitely possible, however youll need a partition on the computer that doesnt have a windows system on it. If you only have the one, (C driver or whatever its name on yours), there are some programs that can allow you to repartitation that space, however I dont think that any of them are free.

But, if you do have another volume you just use for storing data, or if you want to put a cheap 50 dollar harddrive, you can then install the Beat version of 7 on the second partition.

Once youve done that you should see, when you boot the computer, two options to launch windows (for example I already see my XP home and the xp recovery toolkit options just after the BIOS).

You hsould be able to change the defalut settings and the length of time that they are displayed both in winxp and win7, I know the winxp is located under My COmputer-Properites- Advanced - Startup andRecovery-and then modifying the boo.ini

Hope this helps guys

Oh and yes, 1.5gb should be enough RAM, the main concern is if you;ve got a video card. However, you being a member of Gamespot and all, im not even going to ask that question.

That's Right. I strongly recommend the 32bits version i found it more stable than the x64 version which gives me a lot of BSOD :S

install on another hard drive or another partition (fresh install is better, format you hd or partition) and you will have the option to boot in xp or win 7 when computer boots

Dont screw it up though, or you will corrupt your XP and it wont boot. I dual booted Vista and XP which worked fine, but when I decided to reformat my Vista drive, I screwed up the dual boot and had to reinstall XP. It isnt hard, but if you do something stupid you can screw **** up.

My vista came with a program to partition my HDD. So if you have vista then it should already have a program to partition your HDD. If not then maybe I just dont remember how I did it when I did it.
