Windows 7 Professional, any worse for gaming?

Hi,

I'm about to order windows 7 while the student offer is still running, you can get both the home premium and professional editions for the same price.

So naturally I thought I might as well get the professional edition.

I just want to check that it wouldn't be worse than home premium for gaming?

the different versions wont affect gaming performance

I upgraded to win7 prof the other day and so far the only problem I had was Mass Effect was not working. Easy fix though just by changing the compatibility down to xp. Have no clue why I had to do that. Everything else though has worked without a problem.

I'm personally using Win7 Ultimate x64. Works great for me ! I can't see a bit a difference between my Vista Ultimate x64 and Win7. I've also turned off a lot of excess features for Win7 to save some resources - but that really shouldn't make a huge difference with gaming, unless ur only using 2GBs RAM..

I'd certainly download the graphics drivers from the Nvidia/ATi source website though and not rely on Win7's drivers. Although Win7 immediately recognised my Graphics card and it seemed to work okay - gaming was terrible until I downloaded my Nvidia Drivers from site..
