I have vista home premium 32bit and was wondering if windows 7 comes with both a 32bit disc and 64bit disc. I recently pre ordered it, home premium version, but I am unsure if I need to update my system now, or if I can just do an install of 64bit when my windows 7 comes? And, if I have to do the upgrade now, any idea of the cost to get 64bit? When I talked to dell they tried to sell it to me but I never heard the price and wanted to check if my Windows 7 upgrade will come with that option to go 64bit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

when you buy win7 it comes with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. if your current system is 32 bit, you will have to completely reinstall windows (clean install) if you want to go 64 bit. you can't upgrade in place 32 bit to 64 bit. what you do is have vista 32 bit installed, then install 64 bit windows. it will put your old windows in a folder called windows.old. when you have 64 bit installed, you can delete the windows.old folder. you should be ok with what you bought. probably won't have to buy anything else. your options are: keep vista 32 bit and upgrade to win7 32 bit clean install vista 64 bit now and upgrade that to win7 64 bit keep vista 32 bit and clean install win7 64 bit i have 32 bit vista home premium also. i'm waiting until a 64 bit game i want comes out before i go 64 bit. i don't wanna reinstall all my programs until i need to. also, i'm happy with vista. haven't tried win7 yet, but i'm not sure i'd even prefer it over vista. i might even go with vista 64 bit when i ditch 32 bit.
