Incredible!may be true may be not, rumors. For those who haven't heard there is a rumor on a possible new Windows operating system, strange right? I mean, didn't Microsoft just release Windows 7 last september?

Wikipedia "not a reliable source" but rumorly updated

If no one talks about Vista anymore and Windows 7 is the "better" version of Windows XP, we're all supposing the new thing is the improved version of Windows 7, of course, but how? How are they expecting to run an operating system faster and smaller than Windows 7 after a few months later of it's retail release? But yet, that's not what is really amazing, what took me as a surprise, was that this new thing (Win8 ) is suppose to run in a 128 bit OS.

Yeah you heard me! 128 bit!

Ain't that a little bit too much? Well no, while its performance get's better, faster, smaller and confortable, everything's good; but if the rumor is true, wouldn't we need a majorrewrites of a lot of supporting software and hardware?

Incredibly Incredible - say it faster!

Release date - July 1, 2011

Faster, smaller, new and improved, 128 bit operating system, July 2011. Happy summer!

(Employee spreadsheetCheck full image)

All it is for now is a tiny rumor, no one can't precise this will be the new operating system running in our computers, but there is always a maybe. The real question is, will this Windows 8 thing, be a new full operating system or is internet already confusing the definition of a bunch of united updates and fixes (service packs)?

Probably the answer is, DIGG 'till it get's real.

I don't know, doesn't sounds right, since Windows 7 have been doing great, commercially speaking, plus there is almost no complain about it; why didn't they just waited still this Windows 8 thing was done? That could be a waste of money for both, consumers and their company. I think this could be the first Windows 7 SP, but when the 128-bit comes to the topic I get pretty confused.

Only going from 98,

25 June 1998: Windows 98
5 May 1999: Windows 98 SE
17 February 2000: Windows 2000
14 September 2000: Windows ME
25 October 2001: Windows XP
31 Octover 2002: Windows XP Media Center Edition
and so on for a few others until Vista.

Yes I'm aware some of them are still the same core OS (ie. XP, Media Center) but you can see the picture.

Windows 8 being released soon after 7 is nothing unusual and should not raise any questions...but the newer generation of people doesn't pay attention to things like that and thus we have "already?" beside the Windows 8 name.

I'm pretty sure MS have gone back to a regular cycle, XP's reign lasted way too long, and now that Windows 7 has been out around a year, I would expect 2012 release window for 8.

They said themselves they would start releasing a new os every 2 years. That's way too often for my taste but whatever.

I know I'll get flamed by XP fanboys but releasing OSs that use the newest hardware better is a good thing. It took Win7 to get the XP people to finally get with it even if it's a slightly tuned up version of Vista. Looks like the hardware increases are commin' again and I can hardly wait. More power good!

Sounds about right. XP simply lasted much longer than most would have expected.

The next windows we need to see it drop 32bit, no more 32 bit, if it does have a 32bit version then the 128bit will mean nothing, 128bit will literally mean nothing until 64bit is the standard.

 128 bit is pointless on a modern home system. I expect that will be for the server version, their current top version supports 2tb RAM and i guess they want to extend that perhaps also some HPC uses.

64 bit is becoming standards, take a look at dell and you'll see it's 64 bit only.
