Are you asking if it's "safe"?

It's safe, unless you got the preview from God knows where (if it's from shady places, even if it's not likely, hackers might add certain viruses and such into the Win install), but trying to game on a mess, a prototype of a Windows designed only to showcase certain features, is not a good thing to game on.

Eventually Microsoft will probably somehow stop the preview build from working - as it's only supposed to be a preview, but it should be just as 'safe' as running any Windows. Maybe think of it as a test - temporarily - to see what's compatible and what kind of speed you get in-comparison to 7.

If you didn't get the iso here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516 then it may not be safe.

It's safe, it's just not a good idea.

Why insisting on using an incomplete os? Obsessed with trends too much?

Sounds like it. I don't see the need to move from Win7, at this point.

You're welcome, now you know you should have ;). What more do you want? if you don't understand what's new from such a long and detail description then how can somebody else explain it to you in a way that you understand?...

Fatal Error lol. It installed perfect and even could activate it but when try to run the game it gave me a fatal error message. I even tried running in Compatible mode for windows XPservice pack3 etc but still no luck.

Might try another game but might just wait for windows 8 to go into beta properly if we can use it hehe.

It's safe.

I wouldn't do it personally though, Windows 8 is terrible.

From the very little I've seen and read about windows 8, it just seems like they designed it with tablets in mind. This is the first major windows upgrade I will probably be staying away from. Tablets IMO are just glorified smart phones with bigger screens, nice and handy in a pinch, or on the move, but wouldn't want for a desktop replacement.

Why would you want to game on whats essentially half of an operating system? Its not even full featured. Its a preview showcasing some of its main new features and so that developers can start working on it.

If true, the joke is on him cause he really doesn't have Win8. He only has a small preview of a SECTION of Windows 8 with no license, so it expires and he won't be able to use it anymore.

No harm in trying it out though. But yeah. I will proly not upgrade to this as i dont like the metro style desk top or what ever there calling it. At the moment windows 7 has been the best OS for me with no errors and no BSOD etc.

I don't think it counts as showing off when the software in question is currently free and available to everyone. Just saying.

U do know that u don't have to use the Metro menu right? Also, looks like with the next Win Phone 7 update (Apollo, which will basically be Win Phone 8), u will be able to use the phone apps on Win8.

It counts as showing off, because this isn't even a beta, it's something put together just to "show off" something in promotional videos, that they let you download it and see for yourself, that's another thing. You have to rearrange and edit certain files to get basic windows functionality, do you call that a functional build for a first impression? because anybody that is logical enough to understand this, won't consider it as anything.

Sounds like it. I don't see the need to move from Win7, at this point.

From what I have seen of 8 I will probably stay on 7 even after 8 drops.

We haven't seen much of 8, just the Metro Menu which you don't have to use. I'll stick with 7 for a while anyway, can't be bothered installing a new OS.
