150-180ms to 55-70ms Ping!

Thats my real results after using this tutorial!

All games lag, it's not something new if you're playing on servers a bit far away from your country, but don't worry people are fixing it ! Out of all the methods offered to fix the lag on your machine, one of them seems to work VERY well.

**DISCLAIMER**
It might have side effects, especially Wi-Fi!!! Such as slowing down your download speed or affecting your performance on other softwares. (In my case, it didn't change anything
. If you're not sure about what you're doing, just don't do it. I don't want to be responsible because you crashed your computer in some way because you wasted your registry.

Step 1 - Download Leatrix Latency Fix - CLICK HERE Download on the TOP RIGHT SIDE

Step 2 -Unzip the .zip file

Step 3 - Run the Installer.vbs file

Step 4-Reboot

RESULTS!

Not only did this bring my ping down substantially, it also GREATLY sped up loading of webpages in Firefox!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do this if you know how to edit the Windows registry. It works for ALL online games!

This edit had no effect on my latency. It couldn't hurt to try it if you know how to do it, though.

You would have to have pinged a server a few times before doing the tweak. After completion and a reboot, ping the server again and compare the results to before the tweak.

This is what I did, I had a whole list of CoD4 servers, and i compared before and after, and still got the same result (in my case).

This won't increase your internet speed, it only decreases your latency in games/web browsing. Basically the time it takes the server to respond to you the client and vice versa.

However the greatest affect only comes with those who generally have a ping of ~100 or more.

With a ~100 ping youll see times of about 30-40ms

With a ~400 ping youll see times about 200-250ms

Did it, yet to restart.

The first step is a little bland though, doesn't clearly state which directory to make the edit to, I have two folders that contain the IP address (I think). Think I got the right one though.

3 - If you don't have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MSMQ directory, you can download and apply this file http://rapidshare.com/files/77255080/msmq.reg.html to your registry.

There is obviously a downside to this... (Like the tcp settings, you will upload and download slower, it just makes you send packets as quickly as possible, good for games bad for mostly everything else, I can't quote it because these forums are awful with their HTML NOT FORMATTED.

I wouldn't do it, just use QoS on your router.

Aw, ok. I was wondering the same thing regarding Win 7. My ping's not terrible per se, but it could be better. My main online game is Left 4 Dead 2. But if this method is irrelevant nowadays, I won't risk messing up my registries.

Still works on Windows 7 both 32/64 bit. I'll try to update the links when I get a chance in the mean time you can try this instead:

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html

Click the "Download" button on the right side, unzip the file, and run it then reboot. The program will make the entries for you! :D

according to speedtest, my ping is 5ms to begin with, so i guess i don't need this.

then; how can you people say "my ping is 150ms" or something? it all depends on where you measure it to. you just can't get 10ms pings from other side of the globe, no matter what programs you use.

Sweet, good job it's only a frequency increase, wouldn't trust it otherwise(the results not the script).
